Well lets say they could make an alternative decision other than prosecuting in the courts couldn't they! Like issuing a NIP instead couldn't they.
I think you must mean a fixed penalty notice - FPN. Or, rather, three fixed penalties - £300 + 6pts for the insurance, £100 for the MOT, £80 for the tax. That has already been discarded as an option, which is why the OP now has a court date.0 -

OP don't drive to the court get someone to take you, My advice would be to go in way before your time ask the clerk who the prosecutor for motoring offences are, and as if you could speak with him, you can tell the prosecutor what has happened, and do deal where by your plea is guilty, youll take the 6 points and his chosen fine and hopefully they will agree and let you be on your way without seeing the inside of the court room.0 -

oh and Adrian your thanking Andy through the forums like a child looking for approval its making me sick.
You don't need a NIP for insurance and courts don't issue them.
Come back when you know what you're talking about.0 -
NIP is Notice of Intention to Prosecute - the OP had that at the time they were stopped. If they had not, because the offence was detected by ANPR, then the OP would have had to received it by post within 14 days of the offence. A NIP is simply the formal "You're nicked, Miss", and not the end result of the prosecution.

Yes correct not NIP meant CoFP not FPN, sure would achieve the same thing either way I doubt the op would come back anyway, theyre over pepipoo degrading you lot as we speak.
Im pointing out that its not a one way street when summonsed, Ive seen prosecutors accept drop of a failure to furnish in favour of a CoFP 3 points for speeding just from talking to prosecutor pre court.0 -

If you meant an FPN (a NIP would be completely nonsensical) then that ship has long since sailed. Court proceedings have been launched. From that there is no turning back except dropping it and that isn't going to happen.0 -

Nope can't see a mauling here. I can see advice on how to minimise the damage. I see the good people in another place pretty much echo my post in post 3 here.
