Best Screenwash

Get mine cheap in Concentrated 5Ltr bottles from Yorkshire Trading or Screwfix. I keep 2x old empty bottles and make up 2x 5ltr bottles to keep by the front door, fill up when necessary. I am not precious about what goes into the screen wash, it all does the same job and get no smears on my screen. If it rains heavily while I'm driving, I always use the wash/wipe. That clears the screen well, because the rain rinses off whatever gunk the wash liquid clears.0

depending on your car you may want manufacturer screenwash.
some bmw users have had warranty claims for the washer system (circa hundreds of green queens) refused due to non spec screenwash.
Have you got any links to this? And, what do you mean by "circa hundreds of green queens"?
I've used Halford's in my last two cars (Porsche & BMW) and have never heard of a warranty being rejected. But, I did hear mixing Porsche screen wash with another make can cause the jets to block. Which is why I've got 3 bottles of Porsche stuff sitting in my garage.0 -

Thanks James, I shouldn't have been so lazy to no bother googling.
I can understand why blocked filters wouldn't be covered. But, I'm not sure how they would get away with something like the pump failing. I suppose they'd argue it was overworked by trying to pump the liquid through a blockage. What is interesting in the story you linked to it was a bacteria build up that caused the problem and not mixing different brands.
I guess the answer is to use the washers regularly so that a build up wouldn't occur. Or, buy overpriced manufacturer screen wash!!0 -
No worries, and i think its a bit underhanded, the system should be able to cope with mixing fluids. But ho hum0

I thought that was a joke or fake news but !!!!!!, not sure who the bigger tw@ts are, the punter who took tried to get his washer jets unblocked under warranty or the dealer who made him replace all the parts.
Air line through the water pipework probably would of sorted it.0 -
I use Bluecol Winter 3 in 1 (pink) over the winter. I used to use Bluecol's standard screenwash all year round but the blue stuff doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be. Maybe they ran out of good quality Smurf peepee...You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

Bacteria build-up is generally only an issue if you rarely use your washers. The main issue with BMW, well all cars really it's only just BMW are taking a stand regarding the warranty, is that if you mix certain screen washes you can risk a chemical reaction which can sometimes make the solution thicken and turn gloopy, and this in turn causes the issues with the pumps.0

It's down to detergent used in some screenwash. If that is present, within 2 fill-ups you know about it. It's the cheapo detergent that causes the chemical reaction, but not even Screwfix or Yorkshire Trader use that now, or any outlets near me, one called "Trotter's Traders". Oh yes, it's true, quite an expanding company in Lincolnshire. They bought the copyright to the name and they sell everything you can think of.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
