USC return

My husband ordered about 5 items of clothing from USC online and after wearing one of the jumpers once the stitching on the sleeve has started coming away.
He only just bought it so we should be able to return it fine. We printed off a returns form from the website but it says we have to pay for returns postage which I don't think is the case especially if the item is damaged.
I watched a TV show recently that said that even if items we bought online were not damaged and we just changed our mind about wanting them the company selling them has to pay for return postage and the TV show urged people to check if they'd been charged and to claim it back from whichever company it is. The TV show also said if you returned the whole order they had to refund the original postage costs even if you just changed your mind about the item(s) (this has nothing to do with my case though).
Can I get USC to pay for return postage or is this another thing Mike Ashley is getting away with (as well as his credit notes only from Sports Direct)?
I know this is only a few quid but I'm watching the pennies never mind the pounds!

I do agree although that for faulty goods like this you would not normally be expected to pay for the return or at least expect to be refunded for the return costs.
Are there any stores in your area?0 -
I think the TV show was within the last year and probably channel 4 or 5. It sounded like nonsense to me too but I think it has something to do with the distance selling regulations.
There is a store not too far out of my way but I don't know if they'd accept a return. The faulty item no longer has tags on and I do not have the original invoice (but could probably print an online receipt) so I'm not sure how they'd link the item of clothing I'm returning to the invoice as it no longer has a tag or barcode to match up with the item number on the invoice/ receipt!0 -
If you don't like his style of trading why buy from a company he has owned for 8 years?0

My husband bought the items - I don't normally care what Mike Ashley does as long as it doesn't affect me!
neilmcl yes, perhaps that's what I was thinking and was shocked at; that the seller had to refund the original postage costs even if the buyer had just changed their mind about the purchase
So maybe I'm wrong and they didn't say the seller had to pay the return postage but you'd think if an item was damaged they would - I know most retailers do but then again that gives buyers an incentive to damage items before returning them so they don't have to pay the postage fee!0 -
It's very poor.
By omitting to make it clear, it infers you have to pay.
I'd suggest messaging them on Facebook.
Ask them and come back and tell us what they said.
Chances are they won't outright reasssure you.
They will probably say they'll have to inspect the goods first.
Also there's a link from mse ( at the end of the article) where you can report these kind of t&cs to mse
