Hi everyone!
So pleased to hear that despite everything awful in the world, so many of us still managed to have a peaceful, relaxing Christmas
Ours got off to a less than ideal start when we discovered that our AWOL joiner had actually made one window (in 15 months 🙄😮), but hadn't bothered to glaze it.....it's here now - sans glass, but at least we have it - although it's not a lot to show for £3500!
Nonetheless, there have been loads of champagne moments under our roof with plenty of lovely gifts (mostly useful stuff, plus loads of books and a few treats), food and drink
We always buy a chateaubriand for Christmas Day, however I confess our feast this year was a tad overindulgent, even by our standards (mainly to compensate for the fact we were both I'll last year).....but the lobster was fabulous and in the end we didn't cook the gammon but are saving it for New Year's Day.
I've been munching my way through a veritable ton of chocolate puddings as DH isn't a fan...... and if I never see another baked camembert/brie en croute it won't be the end of the world either, lol! Nothing has gone to waste - except my waist, lol! - as our dogs have been thoroughly spoilt with any leftovers we've not eaten.
The only negative was that on Christmas Day when I was preparing for bed I noticed that the antique Arts and Crafts enamel/silver pendant DH had bought me last Christmas had lost one of its component parts. I was devastated as I knew how much care he had taken to find just the right item of jewellery for me and whilst it's only silver, being an original piece it would be hard to replicate.....so I can fully sympathise with your breakage, Wednesday ☹️
We both searched the everywhere, but I feared I'd lost it on a countryside walk near the cottage earlier in the day....
Imagine my relief on Boxing Day when I tipped out a bag of recycling (redundant wrapping paper, destroyed dog toys etc 🙄), only to find the missing part (a thin strip of silver of about 4cm long) right at the very bottom. It will need soldering on but I couldn't believe my luck that it was there 😍
Anyway, although the decs won't be coming down till Twelfth Night, we're all back to normal here now - doing a spot of building work between Christmas and New Year, lol! - as we don't want to take our eye off the ball for too long! Like LL, we're delighted with how our project house is coming along.....you'd certainly never recognise it as the unloved repossession we bought almost three years ago
If things go according to plan, 2021 is going to be our busiest year here yet so there might be a little less time for posting on this thread, so it just leaves me to say a huge thank you to everyone who has kindly followed me on Instagram since I began charting our renovation progress and Happy New Year to all!

It's a real champagne day today, chill, crisp and invigorating. Almost makes up for being in lockdown at least we can go out for walks!

Hello My Lovely Friends......
well a less than champagne moment this Mornjng........emergency dental treatment, 😱😂.
Dont get me started on the subject of my teeth. We could be here a long time.😂. My teeth are the absolute bane of my life., always have been. And yes I do look after them but they are crap. Pretty enough but useless, soft and chalky and they just crumble at the mere thought of a nice crusty French baguette. Most of them are crowned or have bridgework which has kept me going but unfortunately all that work is coming to the end of its lifespan. It's time to get it all sorted. So I am afraid next year is going to see me embark on a very expensive series of dental treatments.
There goes my hoped for big cruise. Looks like I'll have to make do with a day trip to Skeggie.😁
Never mind, I'm just so happy that we are about to say goodbye and good riddance to 2020. And so ready to welcome in 2021. I won't be visiting DS1 and family as planned tonight because they all have the lurgy. They can keep it to themselves. 😉. Instead when we are all clear I will cook us a New Years feast. Maybe Sunday. In the meantime I am being super lazy, catching up with blogland and making a start on some new books I treated myself to.....mainly business books in anticipation of my new enterprise. I am just so thrilled and excited that I have finally made the decision to start a little business. I feel that this year has been such a waste......yes I have managed to get some work done on the house and garden but "life" was very much on hold wasnt it. I am sooooo looking forward to really living again. So without further ado......
May I wish you all a very happy, healthy new year, filled with joy and abundance and as many champagne moments as you can handle.See you all in 2021.Shall I start a new thread.....is this one a bit long now. New year, new thread. 👍.10 -
I'mwishing you all a very happy, healthy problem free new year and hoping all the best of things come your way. That sounds a bit muddle but meant wellWomen and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

LL it hasn't been a waste. It hasn't been warp speed but you have made a huge decision. To only work for yourself. To start your own business. You spent the time deciding what to sell and wonderfully you have decided to play to your strength and passion. Great job that takes time and courage.

Ancientmum - it was absolutely perishing here today. I did go out for a short walk but felt so cold afterwards!
I hope everyone has a nice night whatever they are doing. I'm joining in with an online YouTube "party" with some YouTubers I started following this year.I did see that there is another "party" on YouTube with comedy and music starting at 10.30 so I will keep an eye on that one too.
I am about to switch on the white noise machine as fireworks have started going off and I have two dogs who hate the noise. I'm drinking wine now and I'm making us pizza later.
Next year has to be better than 2020.
