Wow everyone!! Overwhelmed with your birthday wishes - thank you! I had a lovely day, lunch at my friends which was almost like the old days.....lots of really lovely presents too. Mostly very practical which suits me down to the ground! I felt like I was coming down with a cold yesterday, and feel even worse today - but I think it's my body telling me it's about time I had a break from work. Hopefully not long now until I can move - more chasing phone calls and emails today, and feel like we are edging closer but I won't believe it until we have exchanged contracts. Just sent some update emails to the rest of the chain, and some 'take action' emails to my solicitor and estate agent (I honestly wonder what service I am paying for!), and now I am going to retreat to my warm cosy bed with a hot water, lemon and honey and have an early night.6

Oh - and can I give a shoutout to a small business who are doing a fabulous job? They are called The Ugley Mask Company - so called because they are based in the village of Ugley - their face masks are anything but ugly! I've bought myself some plain navy ones, and bought my son some smart dark grey ones, as well as a protective case each. I ordered them on Friday morning around 7am, had an email from them shortly afterwards saying they were refunding my postage as they had a 'free postage' offer on, and I received the masks on Saturday. They are very good quality, and their customer service is excellent. Here is their website: https://theugleymaskcompany.com/
(they do some beautiful patterned ones too but I was in a very indecisive mood on Friday so I went for the plain ones)

Thanks for the heads up about the Ugley Mask Company, mrs_slapshot! I've taken a quick look and will definitely be placing an order
I hope everyone is staying warm and safe, not to mention enjoying some champagne moments!?!? How's the Christmas prep/decs coming along?
I confess to having not yet made much effort in the *decorations* department as I've been too busy *decorating*, lol!
It's a last ditch effort to achieve some kind of order in the cottage before the big day (not that there'll be anyone to see it except us 🙄), so DH is currently spending his evenings building a new *airing* cupboard in the newly created rear hallway on the site of the previous owners' shower room, whilst I'm second coating our kitchen cabinets. The airing cupboard is floor to ceiling and incorporates the old heated towel rail. It will be great storage for towels, loo rolls and spare duvets
A few champagne moments -
We chose our tree (from a nursery that sells outside Morrison's and stocks Fraser firs which tend to be less bushy than the other non-drop varieties, perfect for our diminutive snug!) and were about to hand over £40 for the last 7'+ one they had, when the sales guy said the ticket price was wrong and it was only £30!
We then scoured our local shops for the Kitchenaid kettle DS/his partner want. I've been trying to buy this for about six weeks, but couldn't get him to decide on a colour 🙄 Of course it was out of stock......
Anyway, whilst looking we found a couple of lovely vintage prints (one pre-raphaelite, one of exotic birds) in the window of a charity shop for £5 each!
In Homesense I discovered two Liberty of London (my favourite shopping destination) cushions at only £25 and £30....they somehow made it into the trolley and came home where they suit the bathroom window seat and our bed perfectly ❤️
In the end I had to resort to buying the kettle directly, online but secured a 5% discount!
Finally, I sent an email to irugs regarding the creases etc in our new rug and was offered a £50 partial refund

Hello my lovely friends..
how are we all, hopefully enjoying lots of champagne moments. I am still enjoying spending less time engaging on social media.....I seem to have "found"lots more time now that I'm not getting lost down the rabbit hole of the ether. I still read course and keep up with all your doings. Love to hear all your news and chat.Mrs S....hope you had a fab birthday. 🤞 for the house move.Phoebe - good progress being made and some great bargains. Well done on the £50. I have had several rugs from Irug, I think they are a good company. Luckily I've never had an issue with creasing, if they have been slightly creased I usually I just lie it flat and pile a few books round the edges and that sorts it. What amazes me is the delivery time.Loads of champagne moments here, despite spending very little. Some great chazza shop bargains, toys for grandchildren (not Christmas presents I do buy new for gifts, just extra toys for when they come to visit so they have something different to play with), some bits for the house and a fab dress for the princely sum of 50p. 😂.I'm feeling really smug, Christmas decorations all complete and even if I do say so myself, they look fab. I've gone a bit mad, three christmas trees, loads of lights.....the grandchildren will be thrilled when they see them.Managed both a hair cut and a massage which was Bliss. Have booked another for next week.Soon be the solstice and the shortest day.....where does the time go.8
