hope all goes well with the sale Mrs Slapshot, sorry about the windows Phoebe, hopefully he will get them done when he is able. Sorry LL you're feeling low, I know how you feel. I have now come full circle since Mick's death 3/7/19. We had our 35th wedding anniversary, then his 60th, My eldest Daughters birthday, Christmas, My grandsons birthday, my birthday, My youngest daughters birthday, mothers day, fathers day, anniversary of his death, then his funeral date. I just feel lost if im honest. Maybe this is as good as it gets , who knows.Anyway, my champagne moment today was finally getting my hair done!!! I have thick hair , usually a short shaped bob. TBH I struggle with the back. It's grown considerably, but I've trimmed my own fringe and found it easier. So today I've had usual foils/2 colours and a tidy up and leaving it a bit longer (just under chin), see how it goes!6

My Champagne moment today was receiving my Boots online order which cost me a total of £63 but I saved a total of £253.17 on my No 7 haul of beauty products, most of which I intend to give to my sisters as a gift.7

Wow sugarbaby, that is some saving there!! LL I need to sort out my weight gain too - I joined WW online a few weeks ago and did quite well in the first couple of weeks but that all went out of the window with everything I was doing to get the house ready for sale. Phoebe that is really not good about your window guy - I'd be tempted to ask for my deposit back but I can see why you're giving him a chance to do the work. Sheila I have decided to have my hair done differently since lockdown - it's normally very short and I obviously went for months without having it cut or coloured - have decided to grow it slightly longer, into a bob, and to colour it at home to save some money. I really like the colour (Garnier Olia Light Golden Brown) and the style is growing on me. My hair was being blown by the wind yesterday and that hasn't happened to me since I was a teenager
I've woken up mega early (for a Sunday anyway..) as I'm so excited/nervous about the house situation! I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much about the offer I want to make - it's so difficult when the market is moving so fast. Been looking at the photos online again and imagining myself and my son there...fingers crossed.
Forgot to say I also had a champagne moment with my car this week - it's on a 4 year lease and I've had it three years (time flies!) so it was due it's MOT this year. I booked it in for its service at a local branch of the dealership, together with the MOT and a change of brake fluid and cleaning of the air conditioning. It cost me a grand total of £118.99 as they didn't charge me for the service...I paid for a service plan when I got it but I was sure that only covered the first two services, so a bit of a Brucie Bonus! And it passed the MOT (although I will have to replace one of the tyres in the next few weeks). Was really chuffed with that!
I'm hoping if all goes well with the house sale and purchase that I can start to spend more time on my blog which has been sadly neglected for the last few weeks. The whole house situation is a great one to write a few articles on, for a start!
I think I'm going to do some more decluttering today - did my garage AGAIN last weekend and had boxes more stuff to take to the charity shop. Going to do under my bed today and then hopefully the loft next weekend...dreading that one...4 -
Hello my lovely friends.SUgarbaby....that is a brilliant saving. Well done, you certainly are a champion shopper, you are so good at finding bargains and saving money.Mrs S. great news about the car. I'm not surprised you are awake early, I bet you are are on tenterhooks. Here's hoping your offer is accepted. 🙏. Have a nice time decluttering.I have loads of stuff to get rid of. I tried to book a skip this week. Normally you can get one next day delivery but they said they needed more notice at the moment. I think a lot of people having been using lockdown to declutter And/or catch up with diy. Over the last few weeks my little street has had a skip outside nearly every house. It doesn't help that the recycling centre was closed for a while. Its reopened now but with a booking system. I have a lot of stuff to go and it would mean several trips. Normally I would be thrifty and do the tip runs but I really can't be bothered with all the pre booking faff, especially as some of the items are a bit heavy or unwieldy and apparently they aren't allowed to help you unload. So I'll just bite the bullet and hire a skip, my boys will help load it. I'm spending so much money on chiro It seems daft to then risk hurting my back and shoulders again. 😉. Am I finally learning some sense.😂🤣
One thing for sure.......I'm on a mission now to get as fit and healthy as I can. After all my goal is "Sensational at 70". 🤪. And I want my house to be part of the process too. I am going to follow the old maxim....."only have what is useful or what you believe to be beautiful".I have been thinking about the forthcoming winter and how best I could cope with another wave of the virus, how I could ride out a period of lockdown if the weather was bad and I couldn't get out in the garden. So, as well as stocking up on some non perishable foodstuffs, cleaning materials and toiletries (and of course loo rolls😂🤣). I have decided to stock up on some diy and craft materials, art supplies etc. I might also get myself a sewing machine. Lockdown in winter is rather a daunting prospect, so I want to be prepared so I can keep busy and cheerful.Anyway. That's in the future. Today is dry and sunny so I shall be out in the garden. It coped well with the deluge yesterday, although I can tell the ground is very wet. Apparently we can expect more heavy rain tomorrow so I'll just have to wait and see if I've done enough to improve the drainage. I'm tempted to now get rid of the lawn sooner rather than later. It's hard work to keep on top of it and I'm not getting any younger. 😱🤣. I might get some quotes.Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Keep those champagne moments flowing.5 -
I found my hair so much easier Mrs S when short bob shape had grown out, happier now my 2 colours are done, it looked washed out before. Yes, you''re a good bargain hunter Sugarbaby, I am a bargain seeker too, I always look for offers! Thanks JoeDenise, I hope things do get easier. I was 57 when he died, 41 years together. I never expected to be alone at that age. We just wanted to grow old together.Very wise to make preparations LL, we don't know whats going to happen. It's raining again here , but better weather expected late next week. It's a shame for the kids on school holidays when it's wet.Enjoy your Sunday everyone7

@helensbiggestfan If you can get to Lidl they have a Singer sewing machine for £99 as a special starting today. Might be worth a look as Singer are a good brand (or at least used to be no idea now as I changed my Singer a long time ago as it was a bit basic for what I wanted!).

Thanks for that joedenise. I'll take a look. I'm aiming to book myself in for some sewing classes over the winter, coronavirus permitting. I'm ok but never could master zips to my satisfaction. So a refresher course might be a good idea. I'd like to be a bit more adventurous with my sewing.Well I'm done for. Worked myself to a standstill in the garden but it's done me good. Being outside in the fresh air has really helped lift my mood. I always feel better if I achieve something.....much better for me than moping around feeling sorry for myself. 😂.5

Zips are the bane of my life too! Although having said that I made a pair of trousers recently with a fly zip and the instructions on the pack were brilliant and they turned out amazingly good, certainly the best I've every put a zip in. Pity the trousers didn't actually fit once I'd made them! I made them too short so thinking I might turn them into a pair of shorts but will also need to take in the side seams a bit as they were quite wide trousers so wouldn't be great as shorts.

Lovely to catch up with you all.
Really appreciate the feelings of loss, I thought I was doing ok... until today, 21 years on Thursday with my Mum. Conversations over sewing machines bought happy memories as my Mum, made loads of things with her Singer sewing machine and she hated zips !
She would tell me to get on with it, and enjoy being away from home ( cat sitting in laws) poor yourself a drink, ( rose ) raise a glass to making new memories as life is for living as well as remembering those you hold close, whether physically or in sport.
May past champagne moments bring happy memoriesAs a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or
What does the saying say.... When life hands you lemons, make lemonade
Or as my Mum would say, brush yourself down, tomorrow is another day or
Fake it, to you Make It
