  • I LOVE good coffee.

I was very lucky, and got a Delonghi bean to cup on FB Marketplace for £40 (£250ish brand new!) I treat myself to a cup of coffee in the morning once the school run is done :)

I've got a bean to cup machine and use Lavazza blue coffee beans from Amazon. We don't drink a lot of coffee so happy to pay a bit extra for a bean we both like.

So, how creepy is it that after I read this earlier, I've had an advert come up at the side of the screen this afternoon

  • I woke up feeling like carp again with this bluddy cold.

I had a bubble bath with candles while I was listening to music on YouTube then put on body lotion afterwards. I had a glass of sparkling water with ice cubes and fresh lemon in the bath too.

I did treat myself to some new perfume online as the Frump to Fab thread inspired me. It was on offer for Black Friday.:)
For instant coffee...I have a taste for Beanies...they do 'flavoured' coffees with only 2Kcal a cup (before you add sugar/milk/cream)...they do instant and filter, decaff and regular.

I've recently started buying those coffees, quite tasty.:) I'm not really a big coffee drinker but they are nice to have occasionally.

Have you got 'adblock plus' installed on your browser? If not, install it, it's free and stops all except embedded ads, but will also block elements on the page.

I like Lavazza Gold as a regular coffee made in the percolator [ have several of differing sizes], or crema y gusto. Also don't mind Lavazza barrista instant coffee [ 4.75 ish in Tesco, but 2.40 ish in BM bargains :) ]

Another thing I do (you may find this a bit extravagant) I pay £20 a month into Naked Wines and by the time Christmas comes I have over £200 to spend. I am a member of their Angels club. Each Christmas they have a special bargain case for their members and I find it takes care of most of our alcohol needs. This year's case contains 20 bottles for £182 I think it was. This includes Prosecco and champagne, ruby port, a free bottle of gin, free crystal wine glasses, a large bottle of craft beer and a large selection of quality red and white wine.

Don't know if you think that is a rip off but it works out about £9.60 a bottle not including the gin which is a free gift. When you think how much a bottle of champagne or good gin costs even in Asda or Aldi. Its all quality wine and last year it lasted well into the new year - I think we drank the last bottle in February and there is so much wine that we gave some of it away as gifts. So that's my little bit of Christmas luxury. I don't really miss £20 per month but if I needed to I could always stop and I would find it difficult just to fork out £180 on alcohol.

All I have to buy is some lager and some tonic. We don't drink many spirits at Christmas so that takes care of our booze. Personally, it seems a bargain and others seem to think so too because most of this year's cases are sold out.

I just looked up some of the prices, the gin is £40, the champagne £30 and the ruby port £14. That's if you buy them individually.

Another small tip, if you are a Prime member you get all your Amazon deliveries quickly, some the next day, a large range of films and tv series to watch and if you have a kindle, there is the Prime lending library. You can 'borrow' up to 10 books at a time for free and there is quite a choice. (I am probably far too extravagant for this thread!)

As for the dance classes you are interested in, you could have a look on the internet to see if there are any over 50s groups in your area. I go to a fabulous over 50s tap class. Its fantastic fun and we are learning a skill. The group are all lovely. It costs me £5 a week.

I had a bit of a laugh in Sainsbury's yesterday, was doing their 6 bottles of wine with 25% off. I don't drink alcohol but all the kids are coming home at Christmas so thought if I get a dozen bottles it will keep them off the streets:D So there I am standing at the checkout with a few bits and 12 bottles of wine when an old chap decides to have a chat with me about wine/spirits and I had to confess that I know nothing about it as I don't drink, "Oh yeah" he said with a knowing wink looking at my trolley. I said, "No there not for me." and again he said, "Oh yeah" and laughed. So I think I now have a reputation as a secret drinker as the guy on the checkout and the other people in the queue were all giving me a knowing look.

Heaven knows what I've bought but with 12 different bottles some of it should be to their taste.

Last week I bought three boxes of beers from Asda, it was 3 for £21 and buying them each they were £9 or £10 each.

Don't know if I'll bother with food, just let them all drink to their hearts' content.

I buy wine every now and then from Ald1.
    Brilliant value :)
I might do this for Christmas week.
Delivery is free and they have an award winning range :)

    On another issue,
I picked up a free range turkey form Waitr0se yesterday. I have jointed and bagged it for the freezer and turkey soup is simmering away as I write this. It was £49.99 but it was reduced to £16.99 :)

Have a good day all :)

I had a lovely lunch out yesterday with friends. The hotel is up a hill and overlooks the Firth of Clyde and as it was a nice clear day the views were stunning. We lingered long enough to see a most beautiful sunset. :)

A pretty much idyllic afternoon, fab company, lovely food and a beautiful setting - worth every penny of the £25 I spent:D
  • Just found out I've got 2 grandchildren coming from school today, I've put a casserole on and it smells lovely so will have a nice evening with them. Love having kids in the house.
