Oh Aye , who's John when He's at home? ;):rotfl:

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

To cut a long story short. ;).

Went on a cruise, met two guys both called John. John 1 was very keen, and a very nice man but I'm afraid he just didn't "rock my world". John 2 was a bit more promising but then he started playing hard to get. :rotfl: so I decided he wasn't worth the effort - too feint hearted for me.

I am not husband hunting but if I'm going to have a relationship again then I want a red blooded male who means business and knows how to set a woman's pulse racing. :rotfl:

So the joke on the Frump to Fab thread is that maybe I'll meet John 3.

    I'll keep you posted.......

Todays champagne moment.......I treated the plumber and myself to a Cornish pasty for lunch. So unhealthy.....:D. But delicious. I allow myself a pasty once in a blue moon and today seemed like a good day.

Anyway thanks for all your good wishes. I will do my best And try hard to enjoy myself. ;).

(PS - pity the plumber is a happily married man, he's quite a hunk, 6ft 4". Blonde, blue eyes - like a great big Viking) lol.

Ok.. just worked out my food and entertainment spends for the last 4 weeks. This was before I set myself my new challenge so obviously I am well over my new budget. I thought I would work it all out so I could get a clearer picture of what I need to do and where I need to cut back.

Food, £166, Entertainment £65. So a total of £251. Plus taxis, some new clothes for my holiday, a hair cut etc. So yes, waaaaay over my new budget.

I need to do some work if I'm going to get it down to £180 so that I can save £200. I need to make some serious cutbacks. Maybe saving £200 is a tad optimistic but hey it's worth a try.

This months food spend did include hosting a dinner here and I have also been stockpiling a few bits and bobs for the winter. I have also been buying some Christmas goodies. The freezer is pretty full now and the store cupboards are well stocked. Ordinarily I would say I have a good head start so my new budget should be doable.

However, as I will be hosting gatherings at Christmas and New Year then realistically I am unlikely to be able to come in on target in December. No worries.

The challenge will start in earnest in January.

Again I might not be able to save £200 a month over the long term but if I can just do it for the first quarter of next year then I will have added £600 to the savings pot. I can then always go down to saving £100 to £150 a month to give myself a bit more leeway.

Or better still.....l I could have a go at increasing my income. :rotfl: need to get my thinking cap on for that.

Anyway time to think about dinner.

I had bought a no-brand bottle of multivitamin tablets, to get the necessary on a budget, but they give me heartburn (14 hours now already) so they are in the bin.

  • Well here's a first for me.

Wasn't going to bring my iPad but popped it in my bag. Using WiFi on the train.

  • Have a fab holiday LL - I am a little jealous.... :D

I have been bargain hunting this morning - N0w TV have a fab Black Friday offer of £99 for 12 months of cinema and entertainment (basically Sky TV). I bought it last year and have just renewed it (using a different email as my last pass is still active...) - it is such a bargain IMO!

Another deal I have had is 30% off your first Oc@do shop plus free delivery for a year - although there's only me and my son the minimum basket is £40 (for the free delivery) which we easily reach most weeks - and the delivery is such a blessing when you work full-time like I do. Happy days! :j

  • That's a great bargain for Your sky package. And good idea to have your shopping delivered, especially if you work full time and are really busy.

Why have a dog and bark yourself. Ha ha.

Well I'm really enjoying this train journey. The carriage was a bit cold but they've now whacked the heating up. And they've just brought round the complimentary snacks. A delicious bacon butty.

Starting the holiday in style. No driving, just sitting back and relaxing. It's very dull and overcast but it's still nice to look out at the English countryside.

I never travel without my iPad. You can find free wi-fi in so many places and it makes it easy to stay in touch (my parents worry about me travelling alone so I usually FaceTime them when I arrive, I show them around my accomodation and the view from the window etc - it seems to help them worry slightly less :D)

Have a really fab time

Must try that Plusnet thing. I'm with them and paying 30 quid a month now that my initial deal is finished.

Does it count as a champagne moment that I went to Boots today and spent more than £3 on a single use eye mask thingy? I used that one before and it really did help with the puffiness and dark circles and another, cheaper, one I tried have made no difference.
