I'm full of cold too, n really achey .I had the flu jab on Thurs, so wondering if it might be that :(

I would say its a cold you have caught.

As the flu jab given to older people is not a live vaccine. I have a friend who is immune suppressed and is not allowed to have any live vaccine shots. And he has a flu jab every year.

  • I get the flu jab...and I am NOT old...despite what my traitorous body tries to tell me some days! (A good few years shy of collecting my pension anyway!)….I get it because of my chronic conditions.

Whilst the flu jab doesn't give you the flu, you can certainly feel rough afterwards - but anything longer than 24 hours and I would say you have a cold!

I want my Christmas embroideries finished by the beginning of December...so this afternoon I have the heating on (it is FREEZING today!), Poirot on the dvd, and will get a couple of hours work in.....with a mid-afternoon pause for a cup of the good coffee!

Lol.....to the knackered bodies. Me too. Im 67, inside I still feel 15, full of hope and excitement and as dizzy as ever but physically there are days when I feel nearer 90. :rotfl:

Still........As they say.....it beats the alternative. And I'm working on turning back that body clock.

I dosed myself up with nightnurse and slept like a baby. Still don't feel that great but better than I was yesterday. Will take the last nightnurse capsule tonight and see how i go. I've still got 2 full days yet before my holiday so hopefully should be as right as rain before then. And of course, whilst I don't want to rub it in, a couple of weeks of weeks soaking up sun and sea air will be just what the doctor ordered.

Had a nice coffee with my friend, lots of chat to catch up on because I hadnt seen her for a while. Bought a little Christmas present for DIL whilst I was at it.

I need to buy a few holiday bits tomorrow so will nip into the city centre bright and early in the morning. Try and beat the Christmas crowds. Parking will be a nightmare and As I'm still battling with this cold I don't fancy standing freezing at the bus stop even if it is free so I might just splurge on a taxi. I don't do it very often.

Had the final figures from the plumber for the bathroom. quite a bit more than I'd hoped for but sod it. I'm going for it anyway. I'll just have to cut back somewhere else. He said I could save myself a shedload of money by not having the underfloor heating but I told him that's non negotiable.

I'm too old and decrepit to put up with a cold bathroom. :rotfl:

I bought a soup maker with my birthday money. I'd thought about it for ages because I can never get the veg to water ratio right in a saucepan, I need an idiot's guide! I also wanted one as part of DD's new routine, where she can come in from school and make one just by switching on and there it is ready to eat 19 minutes later. There are expensive though, if I hadn't bought when I did I wouldn't have got it because a day later I got the news that my job would finish towards the end of the year. :(

I've still been a bit trial and error with it, but DS home from Uni trying it for the first time made the most delicious leek and potato soup. I find it can be bland but he'd added onion, pepppercorns and a kn0b of butter and it was so tasty.

When I am at home, my intentions are to maximise the cheapest meals with what I've got in.

I am hopeless at making soup which is why I asked about soup makers. I need an idiot proof one too. :rotfl:

  • Lakeland Soup Maker is pretty much idiot-proof!...Simple press screen settings...and it has a self-clean program too!...not too large either (my kitchen is not large!)
