Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget.

Wish we had a Turkish, Indian and/or Chinese shop near us. Our nearest Turkish is about 50 miles away in London, same for Chinese. We have a very small Indian shop about 20 miles away but they're not actually that cheap and food never looks particularly fresh unfortunately.

I know, they have such amazingly good fresh produce IME.:)humptydumptybits wrote: »I had my hair cut and coloured today, champagne moment but not really a lemonade budget. I've spent so much money lately, I must take control of it. I think once DDs wedding is done I can go back to my lemonade budget.

You know what, I looked in the mirror this morning and felt really good about what I sawI think all the skin care Ive been doing just wasn't showing until the hair got sorted and I could suddenly see the difference. DDs wedding might be costing me a fortune, relatively:eek:, but it has certainly given me the kick up the behind to sort myself out.

Off for the long-awaited 'posh' afternoon tea today!...and I have pink jeans ,a butterfly patterned top and I have matching shoes and handbag - grey leather and floral mix!....(before the massive weight loss I practically lived in black/navy because it is 'slimming'...trust me no amount of black can fully hide a body that can't even squeeze into a size 32!!!!)
Oh and I have recently bought a skirt...my first skirt in decades...it is ankle length because my legs are not something I want to show....LOADS of scars...and I am pretty much ALWAYS covered in bruises. (Sever dyspraxia means I stumble and fall....I have even been know to whack my own shin with my walking stick!!!)
Hair-cuts re definitely a lemonade budget for me....I wear wigs , sojust have someone come every 6 weeks to trim my remaining hair REALLY short.....on the other hand, I am seriously considering buying a new wig -so that wlll mean saving up a few pennies!0 -
Wow......some lovely posts here this morning.
My champagne moments so far......waking up feeling great after a full 8 hour sleep. Seeing my blood sugar level readings responding to my regime. That's gotta be the best news ever for me. I'm am determined to kick diabetes in the derrière. Sitting with my first cup of coffee in my sunny bay window, planning my day and looking forward to the rest of my life. It's getting better and better day by day.
The future is going to be fabulous. I have willed it so. :rotfl:
It's nearly 5 years now since my husband died and I have finally made a decision what to do with his ashes. As daft as it sounds I feel better having made that decision.
Life without him will never be as good as it was with him but I have now finally reached a stage where life is once again sweet.
I think my approach to deliberately taking the time to savour all those precious champagne moments has been the driving force in making me happy again.
I may never have a champagne budget (or then again I might, who knows:rotfl:) but I have proved to myself over and over again that my lemonade budget is just fine. I can live a luxurious life, be truly happy and have lots of fun along the way. I don't need gazillions in the bank to live a rich life.
Today more decluttering so I can then get that scruffy back bedroom transformed into my own luxurious dressing room. How decadent, a whole room dedicated to me, to house my clothes and be my own private exercise space. What a spoilt princess .......I have even bought a chandeler to go in there, so glamorous:D

Good evening everyone,
It's hard to be the "lift" a hair cut and/or getting ready for a day out bring, always gives me a real boost.
Simple pleasures today for me- some sunshine, my tomato seedlings coming on, an unexpected visit from my sis for a chat and the smell of "proper" homemade lentil soup made from a ham hough wafting through the house:D.0 -

Thanks LL you've just articulated how I feel. I'm still trying to understand the art of "enough" - that's not looking at what other people have or are doing, but being happy with what I have and taking pleasure in some of the more simple things. Thank you so much for this thread because you have shown me how it can also be done in style0 -
Well said moo......you are so right we don't have to be rich to have lots of joire in our vivre. :rotfl: we can live with panache and style even if we are skint.
Dahhhhhlings. There is No need to wear a hair shirt when you can wear a silk one.....even if it is from a charity shop.0
