Survey needed for New build purchase?

Hello,
I'm looking into buying a new build on a shared ownership basis. Would it be necessary/useful to have my own chartered survey done on the property - or should I rightfully assume that the developer will have carried out all of the necessary surveys on the land prior to build and that the build is good quality?
So any liability in the event of a fault or problem occurring it would fall into the developers liability due to selling an improperly built property/ or on land not fit to be developed?
What type of insurance would or should come with a new build property? Is there legislation surrounding this?
Thank you.

Most have 2 year warranty from the developer and then NHBC or equivalent for 10 years to cover any structural issues.
Suggest doing some googling so you’re up to speed, or ask the developer you plan to buy from what their policies are for specifics.0
