"Not too expensive"? Well you have just shot your self in the foot there.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I would look at Greenwich - North Greenwich is on Jubilee line, there's the foot tunnel to Island Gardens, you can easily cycle to Canary Wharf, and there's also the DLR. it fits with your budget and there's plenty of green spaces and cafes to choose from."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Not sure what link you saw but:

3rd OK is a bit out of the range, but it's been on the market for 50 days so they may well negotiate downwards.0 -

I emailed the person and told them, so logical explanation is that it was a mistake and they changed it.
I think £650 for a room in someone's house is a perfectly adequate budget, but I don't think I would pay extra for views and nice coffee shops, although I wouldn't want to live in a terrible area where kids throw fireworks, acid etc.
Knowing what London transport is like I'd concetrate on the commute looking at bus route and cycle super highways as I think it's really useful to have options.0 -
St Johns Wood to C Wharf is a nice easy Jubilee jaunt, plus Regent's Park on your doorstep, near Camden.. one of the best bits of London imho.0

Just an anecdote but I used to like somewhere a bit swanky with views of the Thames. It was a modern glass fronted building, the flat was hot and as usual in central London you can't open the windows due to the noise. The transport connections were excellent but it was very noisy.
I now live somewhere downmarket in a concrete social housing block.
The concrete block provides by far the best temperature I've encoutered (and I've tried many serviced apartments). It's insulated from the heat in summer and the cold in winter.
It's also on a back street and much quieter, probably the only flat I've stayed in out of a dozen where you could sleep with the window open which was good in this years heatwave.
Being a public housing block there are targets to meet on such things as fibre internet and we have gigabit capable fibre wired into our flat (not just to the exchange).
The point? - the most upmarket areas don't necessarily mean the nicest accomodation to live in.0 -
I spent five years living in Lewisham. Loved it. Easy commute into London - a lot of transport options. Canary Wharf on the DLR. Multi cultural, buzzy and edgy. It might not have the nice bars etc but you can stroll to Blackheath and, if you want, into Greenwich over the hill past the Observatory.
I felt safe there and had a smashing flat0
