"It is nice to hear other peoples experiences though, so would be cool if people still add those unless this thread just goes down the page otherwise but that's OK. I did see there are other threads about people not coping/liking support, but I wanted this to be more about what to do to try and fix things, not just to vent/talk about my problems. I'm quite emotionally cold and more of a "get on with it" sort of person."
I'm glad you're finding it helpful, it's really good to discuss as that alone can help to start thinking it through.
I'm similar to you, I go through phases that are challenging, but I'm pragmatic and like a plan. It helps to give me structure, I feel like I've achieved something, and it makes sure I look after myself properly.
Try having a timetable for every day, this should ideally include getting out of the house, some exercise, some social interaction, regular proper meals that include fruit and veg.
(I'm not trying to patronise, I have had to tick these things off in the past. Otherwise I sit in bed eating biscuits for hours, which doesn't improve anything)
Here's the thing, it becomes less about if you want to (I mostly don't) but you have to follow it, and so you do. The impact is you are taking better care of yourself and so start to feel better. The trick is to try and maintain those good habits, which can make you more resilient when the next bad time comes along.
I do understand it is easier said than done, it took me years to learn what worked best for me.0
