Santander Select Account

Just logged on to check again, still Select0

Yes I'm also still Select on a 123Lite (for what its worth - absolutely nothing to me - I used the higher ATM limit once and once only years ago), but as has been said that's because I was on the "old Select" when I downgraded.
Seems fairly clear that the "new Select" is a specific account - the Select 123 account, whilst the "old Select" was just a status you were granted and it applied to whatever account you had. Hence under the old scheme you could change accounts and keep the Select tag, but under the new version it is the account itself which is Select, not you.
Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if, should I decide to upgrade to "full 123" again any time in the future, they may insist I have to upgrade to a "new Select" to retain Select status.
(OK I've written the word Select too many times now ... )0 -

Select has always been specific to an account, not to a person. I used to have 4 123 accounts for many years, with only 1 of them being Select and the other 3 bog standard 123 accounts. The fact that you can maintain Select on a downgraded 123 account does not prove that the Select status is attached to you. If you close your 123 Lite, the select status goes with it.0 -
I think someone has demonstrated an argumentative “selective” reading approach to the subject here just to defend his position on a lost argument!!!
Thanks @msallen you clearly stated that the “oldSelect” status was/is still attached to an account, and the current one is a “Type of Account”, but someone else is still arguing to the contrary... in any case, there are evidence that the old “Select status” was indeed account/person specific as only one person on a joint account would automatically get it whilst the other person did not (albeit also reported that Santander was positive about upgrading the other account holder if requested).(edited to add: it is also clear that you meant that whatever underling account you would have moved to you would still have carried on the Select status, to that one account, especially when it was still a live product. Potentially, there may be someone on these boards that even downgraded to the fee free account and still retained the old Select status)
For Santander own admission there are two type of Select accounts, one no longer available (a status attached to an account/person) and the new one, which is specifically a type of account you need to apply for, and have clear different terms...
I believe to have enough evidence now to suggest that if I had to open a new Select account and wish to downgrade to a 123 lite, I will lose the Select benefit, so thanks everyone for your contribution.0
