Paants!!! Flight cost gone down.....

XL.com are fine..ish. I flew with them in May this year from Manchester to Thassos in Greece, wasnt until I boarded the flight that the captain announced we were going via Gatwick!!!
And on the way home, they refused to land at the scheduled airport in Greece because the emergency services were on strike, so we had a 3 hour journey to a different airport in a coach.
But other than that, a perfectly safe, comfortable flight and a half decent meal.
Oh and on the way home there were only 50 people on a 300 seater plane as it was only the start of the season, so we all got to sit where we wanted and had 6 seats each! lol0 -
It always makes me laugh (and cry) when airlines are rated by whether the flight was turbulent and whether there was free food. I cannot possibly comment on the airline discussed in this thread as I've never travelled with them, but there are at least a dozen airlines in Europe who I would never fly with on the basis of where safety comes in their list of priorities!trisha wrote:** are ok, ... it was a good flight and we got a meal on it0 -

Fair point, I don't care whether they provide food or not, I was just making comparisons with other airlines who don't provide a meal, we found Excel Airways provided an adequate meal and the cabin crew were very courteous and helpful. Some other airlines charge inflated charges for a mediocre sandwich in which case it might pay to provide your own food.
I would be interested to know how we are to know which airlines are not safe to fly with ?
I would hope that they all take safety very seriously, bearing in mind that some of the best airlines might have had near misses at some time.0 -
I've long believed that travellers have a right to know how importantly their safety would be regarded by those only too willing to take their money! Sadly, reciting personal experience could be construed as lible without hard evidence presentable to a court of law so I am unable name names. However, I merely hoped to point out that people shouldn't just click the "BUY" button simply because it's the best price you can find.trisha wrote:I would be interested to know how we are to know which airlines are not safe to fly with ?

Unfortunately, mid-air collisions are only one area of risk and usually involve a series of mistakes made by the pilots and air traffic control. I personally have watched aircraft take-off with visible ice on their wings and land in weather conditions totally unsuitable for airport their scheduled to fly to! Such behaviour is dangerous and makes me very angry, but it demonsrates either a severe lack of training or a very unhealthy commercially-oriented culture!0 -
Anybody flown with Excel to Goa?
I hear they're ok on these short flights, but this is one flight you can't book direct on their website (not even advertised) and need to do as part of a Somak package deal.
Just wondering whether the same plane for a 4 hour flight is as good when you need to fly for 12?0
