Ryanair hold baggage

Sorry, another Ryanair query, please.....
I recently bought the Family Plus package for a flight, allowing me 2 x 20kg bags. We ended up only having 1 bag weighing 24kg. I looked on the website and it's my understanding that baggage allowances can be pooled as long as a single bag isn't over 32kg. However, we were still subject to excess baggage charges for the additional 4kg.
I was just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this and whether I'm interpreting the website correctly, as I feel a little cheated.
Many thanks.

As I understand it, with Ryanair for checked baggage you are buying PER PIECE up to a certain weight limit.0

Dodgy Ryanair strikes again; https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g1-i10702-k11184988-Baggage_pooling_on_Ryanair-Air_Travel.html21 Jan 2018, 10:05
Thank you for the suggestions. I indeed asked them on the live chat. They said that I can book two 20 kg bags and combine their weight, but none of the bags can be more than 32 kg.

I've booked 4 cases @ 15kg. and taken 3 without a problem. Do a live chat with Ryanair. I did, and they confirmed it was ok. I could have taken 2 with 30kg in each, essentially combining two cases into one.
https://www.ryanair.com/gb/en/useful-info/help-centre/terms-and-conditionsThe pooling or sharing of purchased checked baggage allowances is permitted with others included on the same flight reservation when checking in together.
Any passenger exceeding their personal checked baggage allowance will be charged for excess baggage at the rate prevailing on the day of travel. This is currently £11/€11 per kilo (or local currency equivalent).
This has been misinterpreted. As they also state that if one has a 15kg allowance, one can pool it, so that, for instance, one can have 17kg and the other 13kg.
Is the one with 17kg exceeding his allowance? No. Because pooling is allowed.
Since the maximum bag weight is 32kg, how is it possible that they were charged for a 24kg luggage weight with a 40 kg allowance?
There is nowhere that states that 20kg is the maximum, other than for what you can purchase.

For health and safety reasons Ryanair does not accept for carriage any individual item exceeding 32 kilos or with combined dimensions of more than 81cms (height), 119cms (width) and 119cms (depth). This weight limit does not apply to mobility equipment.
No mention of 20kgs max.0 -

Is it a strange technicality that you only checked the one bag, so couldn't shift some weight from one bag to another?0

Thanks for all your replies. I didn't get any joy on the complaints form section of Ryanair's website, but will try the live chat.0

Nope. This is wrong.
For example, if two people were travelling on the same reservation with a 10kg hold allowance, you can just put it all into one 20kg piece. That is pooling.
They simply misinterpreted the rule. They'll get away with it sometimes.
Pooling by it's very nature means that you will go over the purchased 20kg. Otherwise, what are you pooling? Pooling means to put all together(in the same pool).
Sharing goes the other way. One person can have 20kg and that can be shared by people on the same booking. so 2 x 10kgs for instance.
It's in the T&C.

No mention of a 20kg per piece limit.
If it's not in the T&C, it doesn't exist.0
