Another Dundonian here, and yes the machine has been out of order for weeks now with no sign of it being sorted.

The chances are you have the points already, and what to do, is do a test purchase if you can with something cheap and see if the points are showing on the bottom of your receipt, or ask the girls (like the No 7 girls as they are always really helpful with me) to see if they can do a points balance for you manually on the till.

I feel as I'm really missing out with the machine not working - I want to try my son's card again which he has had for near on a year, and still no offers but competitions!

Thanks, but I tried that today - with the No.7 girl oddly enough! :D I asked if she could check my points balance and it was only £5. :(

I was mooting to my mum that perhaps it's a deliberate ploy to stop people spending their points at Christmas, so they can make as much profit as possible!

They really should have a back up - or at elast have a machine at the Broughty Ferry branch.

I have £21 in points pending from a boots.com order that I need to collect, but every time I go in the machine in Dundee isn't working. i desperately need to use my points to pay for a couple of presents

Why not phone CS and let them know the situation? maybe they can add them manually.

I really sympathise about the ACM, the new pink things are not much of an improvement on the old ones - in fact they appear to be just a new 'case' on the old machine as the one in the main store STILL jams everytime it is used.

I tried using a half price expert baby skin care voucher earlier this week on several products, the half price only came off on one product, not all of them as I had assumed, was this the problem with your attempt today?

ooh, you know it could have been. I got 2 lots boots baby lotion at 2.19, receipt says saving 2.19 which made me think it was a bogof. baby bath at 2.89 are sitting there bold and proud at full price for both so that's probably what did happen
Student loan no more ;) paid off

That's a shame, I really thought the tills would show your updated balance with no need for the machine to add them. What a pain and so inconsiderate especially with Christmas looming and if we don't want to spend money why should we?

The only other option I can think of is if you can buy what you want, but keep the receipt and if the machine "ever" gets sorted this side of Christmas, take your stuff back and buy it again using your points.

If only the High Street Branch, had the two machines like they used to, a few years back. There was always queue's at both, so the demand was certainly there. It would take the strain off the single machine, resulting in happier customers (like us).

As for the Ferry Branch, maybe they don't think folks down that end would use an Advantage Card with it being "affluent area" it's supposed to be.

Lochee has no machine either, although a much smaller store, it's always pretty busy and could do with one too.

Maybe we should write to customer services and request one in both stores? Any other fellow Dundonians want to join in ? (You folks with more than one machine in a store are so so lucky!!!!)

PS the No 7 lady is lovely and great when it comes to the glitches, and always seems genuinely happy when you find one, so different to others experiences on here with the No 7 ladies.
  • Quick query(s) for anyone who knows about ACs - will they send a new card quickly if I ask for one, and can I still use the old one until the new one comes or is the old one cancelled as soon as I request a new card?

Basically I've broken my AC (too much bootsing!), the front part and back part have separated, but the chip is still firmly attached & it's still usable so long as I hold the 2 part together it'll go in the ACM and in the card readers at the tills and still works. I want to ring CS for a new one, but don't want to be without a card at this time of year! Should I just wait til after the sales to ask for a new card??

Cheers for this - can confirm it works!

    The till does this:

    Christmas 342
    Fusion Kits £19.99 x 2 1x free - so £39.98

    Then Discount (half price)

    minus £10 x 3 - so it takes off £30

    total to pay £9.98!! :T for 3 :T :T:j:j :T :T

Did this twice, one paying with pigsback voucher, other paying points. Both fine.

    Thats 6 presents sorted!

    HTHS;)

    Hi
Does anyone know if this is working today as it would sort 3 pressies for me if it is? Thanks in advance Netty x

I just got a new card as the chip wasn't working properly on my old one and it took 3 weeks to arrive. The old one was still usable until the other one was POSTED. It still worked in the acm machine but wouldn't work at the till.

  • Hi to everyone, this is my first post, so please bear with me!I just had to let you all know that the Gillette Fusion Stealth glitch worked for me today! My first Bootsing success! This was at Westwood Cross, for all those of you in Thanet. The main display was empty, so I had a look around the rest of the store and managed to find another display near the women's skincare section which was almost full.Took 3 boxes to the till and it looks like the Xmas casual staff have started as the SA said to me "Good choice!" and then said "You won't believe the price that these come up as!" So I waited to see if she would just put them all through or if she would call over a supervisor, but she put them through without any more ado, and then started chatting to her colleague on the next till about them! Said colleague started to look suspicious, but I'd paid by then and was on my way out!Was so excited that I completely forgot to use the ACM!That's pressies sorted for my Dad, hubbie and DS!Fantastic and thanks to the OP of this super glitch!
