Benefits & Medical Records

Is it best to send medical records to the DWP when applying for disability benefits rather than them trying to locate them themselves slow things down?

The form is so complicated to fill out so will the medical records act as a substitute?

You need to fill the forms out and send evidence to support a claim, if is a claim for ESA/PIP or UC LCW. They very rarely contact anyone for evidence, the onus is always on the claimant to send evidence to support a claim.

So, no evidence to backup your claims likely your claim will be rejected I guess there still would be a interview to assess your illness how it affects you.

Yes there will be an assessment where you can still produce evidence but if you fail to produce anything to back up your claims then the likely result is nothing.

However, if it's a genuine claim and there genuinely is little or no evidence it is still worth applying. I sent no evidence for PIP and only very basic evidence for ESA. I was awarded enhanced rate for an ongoing period for PIP and placed in the support group for ESA

I was given esa support for the second time this year with very little useful evidence as it doesn't exist most of it being over 10 years old.

I'm in the Support group and they knew about an overdose I took when I was 14. I never sent any evidence but they obviously contacted my GP. With my mandate consideration which I won. . they'd contacted my GP again as they knew stuff about me if not even told them.

I contacted the Pip inquiry line and they told me they do not contact your doctor for any information its up to the individual to provide information.

Called the doctors they told me DWP claim they tell you they contact the doctors for information, but in practise they don't and she was looking into her own record and no request was made when claiming pip?
