Mobile contract in my name or my daughters name?
My daughter is a student and I currently put money on her Tesco triple credit sim as required. I want to move her to a contract and was looking at the Id Mobile sim only deal, however this will involve setting up a rolling 30 day contract.
Do I put the contract in her name or my name? As a student, will she be likely to pass the credit check? (She does have a bank account and never had any debts etc)
The thing is I have 2 daughters and considering doing the same for my youngest also, however she is only 14, so not sure if all contracts just go in my name or theirs.
Probably over thinking it...but want to do the correct thing

Well your younger daughter is too young to enter a contract.0

If your elder daughter is 18+ let her apply for the cheapest monthly SIM-only contract that fulfils her needs, the lower the more chance of acceptance. Virgin Mobile may be best choice. This will also help establish her credit history (making sure the funds are always available for the direct debit payments).Evolution, not revolution0

If her phone is unlocked then you could also take a look at the Plusnet 30 day rolling sim only deals. Regardless of who she goes with it is better that it is her name as it's a good way to develop a credit history.0

My student SD got a 12 month Vodafone sim only contract with no issues, even with her poor spending habits and student overdraft...0

You can't take out a phone contract 'in someone's name'. It's either your contract or hers (if over 18). However, if in her name, the DD can still come out of your account if you wish, the telcom don't know or care what the source of funding is. If she defaults, it is her that will be liable, not you.
She's 18, an adult, and should be managing her own finances and contracts. Whether you choose to subsidise her by some means is another matter, but if she never sees the bills then she will have no idea of the costs.
For your 14 year old, the options are either PAYG, or a contract phone in your name which you allow them to use. You are fully liable for any debt resulting, so in this case use a capped tariff, which I think only Tesco Mobile and Plusnet Mobile currently offer? Teens with an uncapped contract phone will inevitably result in tears...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
