Good morning everyone,
I hope everyone is well. csarina, I hope you too are feeling a bit more like yourself.
Yesterday, as planned, I played football back to back. The first with work mates the second with my mates from home. It was quite an idilic scene as the fireworks were going off throughout both matches and all the boys were wishing me well. Chances are that I'll never see some of them again! Anyway, I still had a couple of things to do so I didn't get to sleep till 11ish.
Been to the gym this morning and I've tweaked something in my neck so I called it early. Thankfully I have co-codamol here at work so i've popped a couple of those. Tonight is date night with my gran, our first since her heart attack. She's not feeling up to cooking, so I've to go to M&S and buy a meal deal on the way to hers. I'm looking forward to it more than ever because this will also be a our last ever 'date night'. It's those sort of things which make me question my decision.
Nelski - Tell Holly that I hope you're on the mend and looking forward to having you back!
RR - Your dinners always sounds so tasty! Suppose, that's one of the benefits of your job is that you're a dab hand in the kitchen.0 -
Morning All
Thanks for the thread Bella and hugs to all those in need.
Same old routine here, 2 walks around the marina and a visit from a therapist, today we also have a shopping trip, Nelski, it reminds me of you and bananagate
The list and everything on it has to be checked, discussed and then ususally changed for something else. Whatever the someting else is he usually decides he doesn't like it once I've cooked it, or, in the case of cleaning products they don't work as well as claimed! And breathe!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Thankfully I am feeling a little better this morning. I have taken the last but one of the tablets, so by tomorrow should be firing on all cylinders. I am struggling with the osteoporoisis diagnosis though. Need to make an appointment to see the Dr.
I did manage to take out the grate and clear it out, unless we have a fall of soot, which I doubt, all is waiting for the sweep next Monday lunchtime.
Gers I hope you are soon feeling better, and pleased to hear that Holly has agreed to stay in hospital for another few days and that she is to get on going care once she gets home.
Hester - I guess it will be slow progress with CHS. I know he will be champing at the bit, but his body will only let him do so much. You may need a wig, so you can 'tear your hair out' if the frustration gets too much.
Managed two loads of washing yesterday, but only because I used the dryer. I did put OH's tack suit out on the line and forgot it, will have to put it on the radiator.
Cleaner here this morning, she is going to strip the hall dresser and clean it. once she has done the rest of the house. I need to empty the big dyson when she goes, I emptied the small one yesterday and cleaned the filter.
Smoked haddock, poached egg and bread and butter for supper, there is some plum crumble to finish.0 -
Nelski, please add my name to the card.
Speky, I'm sure you'll have more date nights with your gran. At mum's funeral my favourite Aunt said "I don't suppose I'll see you again" but in fact I see her more often than I did before because I no longer have mum to visit so I go to her instead.
I cleared out the freezer yesterday. I'd been running it down for a while and yesterday to my shame I threw away quite a few things that had been lurking and had bad freezer burn. My failing is buying reduced stuff without having any plan for using it so it isn't a bargain after all. Anyway I now have a plan for meals for the rest of the month and a half empty freezer.0 -
Morning all. The pea and bacon soup was lovely, think my digestive system is up sh*t creek though, everything sits really heavily, with added lump in chest aterwards, will have to go all veg and see what happens.
Meeting friends for coffee x 2 today, so have showered and no longer smell like a tramp, huzzah.
Did another coat on ceiling yesterday and stripped a bit more paint, very slow going...House is tip central, really really need t tidy it or do something about it, it's getting me down now.
Had a visit from the little prince yesterday, unfortunately, he came round just as the fireworks started going off, so after a fussing, they started and he shot upstairs to hide under the bed. They didn't really stop till gone ten, so he was here quite late. His owners must have been really worried, but I couldn't go round and explain where he was. He was quite chipper when he left though.
Good news about Holly.Dinner sounds nice AOD, but I expect the fireworks won't stop now until the end of January...bella, the Ikea thing sounds great, need a report back! and hope the blind works out. Dumpling, do you get your kidney function checked regularly? Camelot, happy no mop dayNelski, preparatory bolstering thoughts. SO, tidying the leaves made me laugh, I just imagine you laying them all out properly in rows according to size and colour
Happy date night Sperky. Gers, get well soon! OL, actual real live babies? csarina, hugs. hester, good luck with shopping trip and therapist. Is that the therapist ofr CHS? Did it all work out OK for visits? snoozer, well done! I think I have a packet of gingerbread dough that I meant to turn into some decorations for a friend who loves it last year..never got round to it..maybe this year
Hugs and hot toddy Tuesday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Good morning
Bellabella thanks for starting us off
Nelski, please can you add my good wishes to Holly’s card (if there is space)
Yesterday, I actually went outInto town, to bank some Premium Bond cheques - only to find that one of them was out of date - so phone call needed today
Managed to exchange some foreign currency - decluttering has its benefits - £50 in my pocket :T
Last night I sorted out my Christmas cards - wrote my list and ploughed my way through :rotfl: Have 3 special ones to buy & 3 to confirm addresses :rotfl: Then I just need to buy stamps.
Can anyone enlighten me as to the accepted time to actually post?
Today is an sm visit, various phone calls, some baking & some paperwork.
As well as sending copious (((HUGS))) to all who want or need them, I will try to get the Sleep Fairy to turn up & sprinkle ‘pleasant dreams’ fairy dust & proper ‘sleep dust’
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible

Morning,
I caught the early bus at 8.30 into town. At the end of Oct. the service provider changed and my return ticket now costs 90p more. I wasnt expecting that,I saw Aunties friend yesterday and he said his single had gone up 10p so I had to fumble about finding more change.I've got 1 or 2 things for both DGC,I have DGS birthday before I can think of Xmas though. It was so mild out this morning.
I ended up sleeping on the sofa in the kitchen as doggie stress levels were the worst yetI could still hear some going off at 12.30,and it's def the cannon ones that are worst.I think you're right Nelski about them being display ones but there's no way a display would go on so late so I think theyre being got under false pretences  She wouldnt go out for a wee before bed so came and nudged me at 4.30 to go out, might end up nodding off later. We've got DGS staying over for 2 nights as his Mummy has to go to London for work.I'm lacking in energy today so bought a meal deal in Marks while I was out.
Glad youre feeling a bit better Csarina and Gers
:mad: at the babies being dumped Organza Lace, life must seem so cheap for some people out there.Thank goodness for good people like your DD and partner who are willing to foster and adopt.:A:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. That's the cooker cleaned out, me showered (not much point until cooker done as a messy job, did it in my pjs, if I splatter, it don't matter) and towels in washing machine, card posted, husband made me a cup of tea, excellent.
Think I will boil an egg and have egg mayo sandwich, then the afternoon is my own.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
:hello: Good Morning, Oldstylers. OK then, you lot, own up NOW - who's stolen half of my day :undecided ? At 6.30am, I pressed 'Snooze' ................ then drifted back off into 'total oblivion'
.
bellabella - thanks for starting the thread off for today. Fingers crossed that all goes well with your DM and the Blind Fitting and well done on the 'sustainability thing' at IKEA. I'm like others on hear, and would love to hear a bit more about this and the 'outcome'
.
ancientofdays - did you HAVE to go and mention 'cooker cleaning'? I'm trying to ignore mine - and now I'm on a 'guilt trip'
.
tru - I know what you mean about those 'horrendous explosive fireworks'. We've got one of those 'Pyrotechnic Suppliers' close to where I live AND also a Wedding/Party Venue that hosts Private Firework Displays etc. The Local Garden Centre have had their annual display stopped after complaints concerning the DJ/Disco being too loud/too late - nothing to do with the fireworks :rotfl:.
camelot1001 - Enjoy having your haircut later today - I had mine done last Friday and immediately felt loads better afterwards.
nmlc - enjoy your work today - hope it passes just as quickly :j.
dumpling - sorry to hear about how bad your legs are at the moment - I had something similar in the past, when a new GP stopped my 'Water Tablets'. Amazing how quickly the fluid gathered and 'leaked' ................. had to wrap 'inco pads' around my legs to get out to visit GP's surgery to show how bad it was. Luckily the 'proper GP' soon put me back on the tablets again :T. Hope you soon get some proper relief for them
. Enjoy your Netflix and knitting
.
redruby - Sorry to hear about your nightmares - hope you have a far more settled night tonight.
Nelski - thanks for keeping us updated with Holly and her progress :T. Well done on getting the paperwork sorted :j. Hope your visit with DM goes well today.
silver-oldie - enjoy your 'coffee date' with your DH today .
Gers - Hope you're finally 'on the mend' - a full night's sleep is often the first sign that things are 'on the improve'. Make sure that you don't come into contact with anybody else who's got germs/bugs etc for quite a few more days yet.
Speky - Certainly no reason for why your 'Date Nights' with DG should stop - just because you're going to live in Madchester. Glasgow isn't that far away - unless you do the journey on National Express, like we do. Enjoy the rest of your 'Leaving Week' - and your 'Settling In Week-end' :T.
Organza_Lace - Great step forward where your 'Prodigal' is concerned - hopefully the Support Worker will be able to understand a bit more :T. How wonderful that your DD and partner are able to always find room for these babies that arrive on their doorstep. Makes you wonder what kind of lives the poor mothers are having to go through, to make them abandon their babies like that
. They're doing such a fabulous job - well done them :A :j.
Hester - Hope all goes smoothly today for you and CHS - don't forget to be good to yourself. ((((HUGS)))) for you both.
csarina - Good to hear that you're another who's 'on the mend'. 'Smoked Haddock with a (runny) Poached Egg and Bread&Butter' was always my DDad's favourite meal.
snoozer - well done on your Freezer sort-out :j. Still need to finish mine off.
-taff - Enjoy your coffee meet-ups and well done on the DIY :T.
MrsSaladDodger - wtg you on sorting your finance bits 'n' bobs - what a shame about that Premium Bond - I'm sure they'll sort it out for you .............. and wd on finding £50 of Euros :T.
RosyRed - wow - you had a really early start to your day - well done you :T. That 's lousy news about the bus company hoiking the fares like that .
Prayers and ((((HUGE HUGS)))) for all who need them. Take care and, for all who care for others, don't forget to 'Be Kind To Yourselves' as well.
No 'proper plans' for me today - I'm making the most of a very rare 'quiet day'. Back to Nathan-sitting tomorrow and Thursday - Oh Joy!!!
Need to have a sort out of the 'very untidy shoe mountain' in the corner of the bedroom - and put them straight on the shoe rack. Think it's also time to put the sandals/flipflops into the bottom of the spare wardrobe - no need for ALL those to be out at this time of year.
Have just washed a fleece jacket and waterproof outer jacket - going to put them on the line and hope that they dry. If not they'll just go onto the airer for overnight.
Enjoy the rest of the day, everybody - luv Ollie xx0 -
(((EXTRA HUGS))) for you, Organza_Lace. Sorry to hear that he's being 'one step forward - two steps back'. So difficult when their Peer Group is absolutely useless and determined to lead them in an undesirable direction.
Are there any other male members of your family who he can relate to and perhaps take good sound advice from?0
