This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

  • Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread bellabella.

I've been up for an hour or so but went to bed very early.

Today I need to clean the cooker, it is disgusting and I did mean to do it yesterday but "forgot" in favour of doing something more interesting.

I'm hoping that the bangs and fizzes will subside now that bonfire night has been and gone. We no longer do anything fire-related but OH still makes bonfire dinner - pigs in blankets, spare ribs and chips (he has gone rather parsimonious on the chip front). They also have tomato soup but I dislike that so usually make my own soup. I did, from leftover veg and broccoli stalks but had it for lunch as I felt the need of a vitamin-rich lunch.

I hope everyone has as good a day as possible and that the animals are not too traumatised.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

I have asked Ds to be a bit quieter but with a metal garage and a set of large wooden gates that scrape i dont think its possible so here i am again at silly o'clock. Tonight i am off to Ikea to be part of the sustainable living group and hopefully pick up some tips .
Dolly is still snoozing so once i am dressed and had another cuppa we will go for our morning stroll the weather seems quite mild today, she doesn't seem to have been too bothered by the fireworks so am quite pleased

Hester I'm glad CHS is making progress xx

Gers I hope you feel better soon xx

Thanks for your dog stories, it's good to know about others that react (or don't) in the same way. I was starting to think Scamp was wired wrong :D Last night though, I was armed and ready for fireworks and he was doing really well – til what sounded like cannons started going off from a house round the corner. There's no way these can be bought in the shops, someone must've managed to get them from a display supply place. It was so loud I ended up with a headache, I could hear lots of neighbour's dogs getting stressed. Mr tru bundled a terrified Scamp into the car and drove til he found somewhere quiet so he could calm down and have a little walk, he was gone for an hour and a half.

We had a power cut at 5pm, why does it have to happen just as it's got dark? :D Lasted for about 45 minutes so it wasn't too bad, I lit some candles and it felt very cosy. I'd just put the kettle on so had to finish boiling the water on the hob, just as well we have a gas hob or I'd have been miffed at not having a cuppa :D. I forgot about resetting the heating timings on the boiler, instead of turning itself off at the set time it stayed on all night and I woke up at 4.45am, very hot and couldn't breathe properly because it was so stuffy.

The shopping is coming this morning, once that's sorted we'll go out for a walk then I'll clean a couple of windows. I don't like to clean them all at once, it's too big a job, lol, so I do two per day til the job is done. Hopefully I'll get most of that paperwork finished today and can get back to the important things – reading and crochet :D

    Morning All

It was a struggle getting up this morning! It's really mild but not raining yet, we have that to come later.

Nelski, please add my love to Holly's Birthday Card. Holly, try and stay at least another few days.
    Hope you're feeling better Gers.
One day at a time TA.
Hugs to all the poorlies too.

Yesterday wasn't particularly busy at work for a change, lots of odd jobs sorted so it wasn't a wasted day. Haircut tonight thank goodness, I look like a mop!

Have a good day, take care. XX

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can go for a run.

    Good morning everyone :hello:
Another night of not sleeping properly for me, I feel exhausted already so this does not bode well for today. My legs are still very uncomfortable despite being dressed by the district nurses and the water tablets are making their effects known. Ah well, I will hopefully start to feel better soon and I know there are a lot of people much worse off than me.

Phoebe had a good first day in work and Lee enjoyed his tour of the college. He starts officially this afternoon and is really looking forward to it. Lilly continues to do well on her college courses so I am very proud of all of them, just wish they would stop the bickering :D.

I have a very quiet day planned, Steve has a doctors appointment so he will be late home. Lee is going to make a beef chow mein for dinner and I will be directing operations from my chair. Apart from that, I will be knitting and catching up with my Netflix :).

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Dry here again and I think its mild, not bad for this time of year.

I had a terrible night where I was having nightmares, it was so scary that I woke myself up three times to try and stop the dream but it continued when I went back to sleep  I was truly scared and don't feel like I have slept much, today will be a long day !!

Breaded chicken for dinner will probably do some wedges with it and salad so nice and easy.

Did a bit more xmas shopping last night will need to start the dreaded wrapping soon, maybe if I do a bit at time it wont be too bad.

Please put my best wishes on Hollys card, and I do hope she can hang on there for a bit longer xx

Specky how exciting :j, that has come round quickly !!

Bella yes come along the more the merrier ! xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning :)

Thanks to those of you who sent messages for Holly's card I will sort today...we need a big one! She rang yesterday and goodish news she has agreed to stay till Thursday and then the the consultant will discharge her with support in the community. She does sound ready to leave now and she must be desperate to get back to her home.

Slept a bit more last night still fitful but the amount of daft dreams I had must mean more sleep was had. I had one dream that featured silver_oldie and her grandson....nothing weird SO I promise but you must have been on my mind :D

Got most of the paperwork done I think yesterday although the usual routine is the accountant starts moaning about now and the work triples.

So glad the fireworks have finished for a while 3 days of relentless noise. Very glad I will be away on NYE this year as it gets even worse that night. tru I think some of my caring sharing neighbours had the cannon ones too and the ones I hate the most those whizzy ones :D

Mum day today ...and breathe :) I know she enjoyed last week with my Canadian friends so hopefully the mood has lasted send calm vibes

Gers hope your feeling better today
Lainey find that mojo again I really miss tales of Lu

    Have a great day all:A

The weather was lovely yesterday so I spent time in the garden, needed to mow the lawn and tidy the leaves.
Forecast good for today so I think it will be taking DH out for coffee, well probably hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows for him coffee for me.
    Not much else planned.

Hope you all have a good day

    Good morning folks.

Thanks for your good wishes. I'm hoping that yesterday was the peak of horrible! I didn't go to work, stayed mostly under my duvet, the boutscof coughing was the worst part. Anyway, I managed to sleep for most of the night. Strangely my face was boiling hot and my feet freezing cold.

Another day of staying indoors - it's mild and damp outside. I'll probably stay up for a while. :j

    Right, hugs all round.

    Happy Tuesday to all.
