Houses left by benefactor to be let cheaply to people in need

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-46073249
When Holly Dawson posted a tweet about a benefactor who left two homes to be let cheaply to hard-up people in her village, it went viral. But there were also many cynics who cast doubt on the story. She felt compelled to check it out.

Has any of our MoneySavers ever come across something like this local to them? We'd love to hear about other acts of kindness like this if you have any to share!

Coming from a rural area myself I thought this kind of thing was quite common and unremarkable.... when I read about it on the BBC news yesterday I was bemused that so many Tw*tterers we so shocked at the idea.

The cynic in me is waiting for the shock-horror stories in about a week or so when it is discovered that some people are living in low rental properties endowed by kind benefactors who got rich from the slave trade, or working the downtrodden poor into early graves.

Will the same Tw*tterers be demanding these homes are bulldozed to erase any memory of the 'evil' benefactor involved?
