High milers

A leggy diesel S-class? First thing I'd be thinking is "taxi"...Navigator123 wrote: »With that amount of money and if high mileage does not worry you I would be looking at a 5 year old Mercedes S Class.
Expensive when new but depreciate like a Teresa May popularity score and are bullet proof.
5 years old with up to 200,000 miles on the clock would tell me that it has at least another 50,000 miles to go of trouble free motoring so long as it has a full service history
Can't see the OP's Lexus softroader being exec cab material, but it's not impossible.0 -
I would buy on the condition of the car and the service history up to about 70,000 miles for a newer car. I wouldn't pay £14k for a 3 year old car with in excess of 150,000 on the clock. Have they taken the minicab thing off the top or do you get that for free??
I can't see a car like that being used as a standard minicab. It's likely been one of those posh airport limo runs (hybrid as a tax dodge?), so it's likely to have spent a lot of time on a motorway or idling round a car park.
That seems to be about 50% of the new price, which seems to sit with what you'd expect on normal mileage, so I'd be looking to get it a fair bit cheaper.
As said; if you're going to run it into the ground 150k miles isn't a big deal. You may struggle to sell it later on though as people are terrified of going over 100k miles. At that mileage you're going to have to hold onto it for a long time at low usage for it to hit an average mileage.
What are equivalents on normal mileage going for?0 -
As there is only 1 NX with 154K for under £14K for sale on AT then I assume its the red one, looks tidy.
I would be calling the Lexus dealer who serviced it to validate the service record, if it checks out and its 1 owner, then I would buy it, unless you think your not going to keep it forever....if you think may sell it in a few years and doing very little mileage then I would spend the extra £4000 and get the one thats on 98K, you will be able to sell it a lot easier.0 -

I live within 10 miles of the east coast, nearest motorway 30 miles away. I do 17k a year and most of that 17k is a 56 mile round trip to work on an A road with only a mile or so of urban driving usually in the wee hours with little traffic so the brakes, clutch and gearstick don't get used that much. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
