SO, I think you're wise. I've been badgering Steve for ages to set up Powers of Attorney and to clear the loft so that the kids don't have that to face. This week he has done both, probably because he has been faced with his own mortality (which isn't in the least imminent btw).
We updated our wills several years ago and I don't care what happens to me funeral wise so long as I'm cremated and it isn't a religious ceremony.0 -
So much for the resolution
but have only just woken up  woke up at 9;30 & thought I would have ten more minutes
(((HUGS))) to everyone & will pop back in later when I am actually awake

If you don't feel your little family will give either you or your DH much needed support, when the worst happens, then I think you are being very wise thinking of putting plans in place now which might help ease your mind a bit. xx
I have decided to have a Direct Funeral. The thought of my lovely DH trying to cope with my funeral would be too much.
Don't see DS very often, once every couple of months. Never offers to help.
I need to write a letter to my dgs. I'm not very eloquent when it comes to saying/writing things. I need to tell him I would love to spend time with him, build memories for him and his Grandad, I try but it doesn't happen but I don't want to apportion blameIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Got my car back this morning, lovely job on all bumps and damage done through my stupidity, Lithuanian guy up the road, was happy to pay him asking price as car looks new.
It was bright this morning and warmer than yesterday, very overcast now and getting dark, find November a very depressing month as so much of it is wet and foggy.
So sorry for those not sleeping, it used to happen when I was working, can now sleep for Ireland, have just had more than an hour in the chair.
Hugs to TA, Dumpling, Holly, Csarina, Taff, Polly and anyone else in need of one.
All DGC back to school to morrow after mid-term, they have enjoyed the break.
Be kind to yourselves and each other

........Ollie I am very envious of you attending the Food Show, I live too far in the sticks for such things, but love to read recommendations. I am not Coeliac, but Consultant suggested going GF to help my poor tum heal as I am probably Gluten Intolerant. It has helped a lot and I can eat some ordinary foods, but not too often. When I have some freezer space I may order a few of those savoury pies.
I'm very fortunate to live so close to Liverpool for this particular Food Fair. An hour on the bus - which, of course stops at practically EVERY bus stop on the route - so was able to visit it TWICE :T. I got FREE Tickets because I'm registered with so many GF Companies - some folks were paying £7.50 each to get in ! Chatting to some of the other visitors, I found two ladies who had come all the way from S!!!!horpe - 120miles! Oh darn - that was NOT a naughty word - Sc*nthorpe!
It was also really interesting to see lots of the smaller companies who are working towards all kinds of 'Free From stipulations' - not just Gluten Free :T. There was one stand selling the most  Gluten Free / Dairy Free / Nut Free / Organic Chocolate. Lots of chocolate is Gluten Free but not all, so you have to be quite careful ................... fortunately for me, Thorntons IS one of the GF ones :T :j!
On the subject of funerals - when I retired around 6yrs ago, I used some of my 'payout' to pre-pay my funeral in advance - using The Co-Op. My (adult) kids were quite  - but I reassured them that there was nothing wrong with me and I was just 'saving them the problem' of what to do and how to pay for it. I've also taken out a small policy that will cover any 'incidentals' - such as outstanding bills and something towards 'a bit of a shindig' afterwards ........................ though I've insisted that they play a 'Mix Tape' of my favourite music and that they MUST sit and listen to it!
I've also stressed - NO photos on the coffin (hate seeing myself in photos) - NO names/words spelled out in 'floral letters' - I'd rather no flowers whatsoever, with donations going to the charity connected to the shop that I volunteer in - we raise funds to finance 'Well Digging' in Mali (Africa). I've even picked out the music for the Crem - would like everybody to leave singing 'Spirit in The Sky' by Norman Greenbaum!
