S-O I am sorry that you find yourself in that situation, just shows we never can know what the future holds (thank goodness)
It is best to take time and think through what you want/needs to happen in your situation and then try and organise things, I am sure it won't be easy, but hopefully you will feel some relief when it is all planned and initiated.
Each time OH and I have our yearly meeting with the Financial Advisor she gets to the bit about Power of Attorney (there would need to be some explicit wording to tie in with our finances) we nod vigorously and say yes, must do this.............:oThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Silver-Oldie, I think you're being very sensible. If you do as much as you can in this area, you might be able to stop thinking about it.
Olliebeak, when I worked I was even worse than I am now for worrying and not sleeping - some days I just used to get through the day on strong coffee, not ideal !! Thank heavens I don't work any more.0 -
Morning all
Late one from me as i went back into my room to sleep last night it was bliss:D Todays chores are cleaning the last few bits and the floor and putting all the clothes back in the wardrobe the furniture thats going will be collected by charity on Wednesday so we will just have to wander round it for a few more days I am going to buy some new furniture but its on hold for a bit as we are off to Vegas in 3 weeks and its not desperate. I dont seem to have a spare day till Thursday as Hubby is off tomorrow and i need to go to mums to oversee the blind fitting Tuesday and in the evening I have been invited by Ik*a to be part of a study group regarding living sustainably since watching bits on telly I am determined that this family will become greener I was shocked at some of the things I saw.
SO I think you must do what you feel is right pre planning and letting people know what you want is good as its tough if family aren't sure of their loved ones wishes my mum has been downsizing her possessions as she says it will help me when she goes to know what was important to her and what was not she also keeps the order of service to the services she attends so she can plan her own and has made me promise not to put a photo on their or get flowers spelling mum or nan
Nelski and all those struggling to sleep I hope you manage to have a nap later
TA hugs to you it will take time to adjust but you are doing ok take things slowly x
Right better get on as we are off to the Tower of London later for the torch lighting and dinner with DD2 and her boyfriend
Have a great day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini0 -
Morning folks - it's a beautiful morning here though I'm still in my jimjams drinking tea.
I spent most of yesterday in bed asleep, today may be the same. The coughing is getting worse but intermittent and non-productive so it's probably just a virus which I have to see through. I've been eating toast and shortbread! :rotfl:
Thoughts to all of you - happy Sunday.0 -
OLLIEBEAK I have been using Delia's Celery and Nutmeg soup recipe since the mid 70's when I came across it in her Evening Standard Cookbook! (It's now simmering away as I speak!)
SILVER-OLDIE I feel for you I really do. When Bob died I don't think I could have coped without the ongoing support of my DD and DS. If you don't feel your little family will give either you or your DH much needed support, when the worst happens, then I think you are being very wise thinking of putting plans in place now which might help ease your mind a bit. xx
Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
We did the pre paid funeral bit.......our daughter knows about it and also where our wills are. We both added a codicil a couple of years ago, but everything should be straight forward.
I have raked out the fire, just set light to the bits of clinker and wood in the grate to clear it up, I also have a pan of slack I will put on gradually. Tomorrow I will ring the sweep and clear out the grate, will leave washing down the fire place until after the chimney has been swept. I am keeping the grate, 'just in case' you never know, we may get a power cut an open fire would at least keep the sitting room warm.
Usual breakfast in bed. I do not know why but the first tablet I take in the morning makes me feel iffy, taking the later ones is not a problem, how ever I have one day and 2 tablets to go and they are finished.
No energy so not doing much today, just sitting and chilling apart for getting lunch and supper. I will prep the veg shortly so it done and I only have to cook it. Roast shoulder of lamb, yummy.
OH is out in the garden dittering, I told him off yesterday, he keeps setting himself targets and they get longer every time I look at them. He really is extremely stubborn.
Yesterday I went on line and ordered 6 WFF dinners for the freezer. We had used up what we had before the bedroom freezer went futt......at least if I am ill OH will have the means of getting a hot meal. I also need to get single portions of stuff like mince and one pot stew in the freezer. He is ok with things like cheese on toast etc, so he would not starve.
I know its psychological but since Friday various bit of my body have started to give me gyp..........my left wrist seems to be the main one, each time I move it pain shoots up my arm....... Hey ho. Have rubbed it with voltarol see if that helps..........
Right time to show willing and get the veg done. Roast shoulder of lamb, roast spuds, cauliflower, green beans and carrots. Have some apple in the freezer will make a crumble for dessert.0 -

Morning lovelies
The weather here is grey and damp, we can't even see down the valley for fog/mist. It's just not nice outside today.
Dad rang this morning to say that he wasn't coming over for lunch, so it will be a calm and relaxing kind of day for us. We have brisket in the slow cooker and the veg is prepped. Mr Fix It has thrown the hoover round and I have tidied up. The only thing we need to do later, is to hide the wrapped pressies that DD left. We shall swap them for our Xmas tree and decs in the walk-in cupboard in her old bedroom, out of sight of prying eyes . The DGC may be 9 and 7 but they still believe in :santa2:.
TA could you rent out your DD's BF, just to put the cover on our van next year ? Take care my friend xx.
SilverOldie I think that you are sensible to put a plan in place. We did our wills after my DM passed away suddenly, we were always going to do them but it never seemed to be the right time. I think DM's death shocked us into action.
Mehefin hope you are ok. Have I missed your posts ?
I hope Holly, Poppy, taff and anyone else feeling grotty, pick up a bit today.
So sorry that most of you are feeling so down today. I know that feeling all too well, so I shall send you all copious hugs. I shall also oust the Sandman from his hidey-hole to do the rounds. On the other hand I slept like a log last night .......... sorry I'll get my coat....... :rotfl:.
Take care all.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Got up quite late, it's raining and miserable so obviously, I will be staying in today. took two pork hocks out of the freezer yesterday for today, will cook them German stylee with mash.
Have had date for operation, thankfully after my birthday and before Christmas, so that's a date to plan for. Best buy some presentable PJs...
Not setting any goals today, feeling feeble...
Sorry to hear all with trouble sleeping, stock answer to that is hot toddy. you may not sleep after but you'll definitely feel a warm glowOn a more serious note, hope that the illness or stress causing the sleeplessness eases off...
nmlc, thanks for the pie info, I will refer back to that when I make one next, might be tomorrow, Ihave some chicken in the fridge to use up. Do they make tracker thingies for bracelets maybe or a necklace? SR, happy bathroom daysSO, I know what you mean, I wrote mine when I was diagnosed, because I've seen what squabbling happens when there isn't one. Not pretty. Not having any children, I will be in the same boat, so it's as well to do it in preparation..TA, good luck with the freezer and celery soup, sounds lovely. Don't do too much or expect to do lots...dumpling, ejoy your clean house and beef dinner
gers, hope the virus passes quickly, you're in the best place for it

Hello, a late post from me as I've been busy doing nothing of consequence. I have slept a bit better the last couple of nights and it makes such a difference. I managed a lie in until nearly 5 this morning.
Spent Friday afternoon with an old friend (we worked together for over 30 years off and on) she has been really quite ill with shingles and 5 weeks on is not fully well. We had a good catch up, a little walk and then coffee and cake.
Yesterday I tidied, did washing and made a sprite and most of a fairy. It was a beautiful day, unlike today which is damp and dreary so I'm glad I'm not going anywhere.
Just spoke to my mum, she has been on hols to N Wales but apparently the hotel wasn't up to much and the food awful, travel arrangements also left much to be desired. So she says that she is feeling a bit old and tired and may not go again but I don't think that will last long, she has always liked going on holiday, unlike me. I like going to see friends but not actual holidays.
I am cooking roast chicken this evening, I've made some stuffing lots of nice herbs in that, and I was going to do some veg prep but might leave that for now. OH woukd like bread sauce though so I will go and do the infusing for that next.
silver-oldie I think that is very sensible and hopefully making your wishes known now will relieve you of worry to some extent.
Thinking about those of us who are unwell, sad or worried.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
