TA, well done, it's no wonder you were aching.
Tru, we had the annual row about fireworks on our local F/book page last night.
Tell Holly how glad we all are that she doesn't need another op Nelski.
We were quizzing last night and came in our usual second. I was pleased though as I managed to drag up the name of the Serbian who assassinated Archduke Franz-Ferdinand, sparking WW1 (Princip if any of you are interested), maybe the memory isn't as bad as I thought.
We're hopefully seeing Chris and Crystal today, with the men going golfing. I finished sorting the kids old schoolwork yesterday so I shall take Chris' across to him then he can decide whether to keep it or not.0 -
Morning! Am feeling a bit wooly this morning, but will be meeting friends for lunch after [got to get the social life in before next Thursday]
It's easier to meet people outside because I can go home when I'm tired but if I have visitors, I can't really chuck them out. My good friends know this and aren't bothered, but others just don't get it..
Nothing much else for today, OH is out for a Birthday meal/party tonight, so will be Billy tonight. Might buy a couple of sparklers and amuse myself writing in the air in the garden...or take one of the light sabers out without him knowing and go to battle with the tree
Good news for Holly! Happy new haircut Ollie and congrats on your compliance eyesDeleted_User, sorry to hear that, hope you feel better today. Organza, hope he didn't return in a mood
bella, hope the decorating is done for you now...TA, you don't have to that much you know, don't knacker yourself out so you'll be ill...nmlc, your menus always sound lovely...I have a question though, what do you do to get the sauce for the pies? mine always end up really runny or way too thick...
tru, hop your tooth is ok now. Bozwood, have fun in the charities, I do like a good rummage on occasion. Gers, glad your better, enjoy the day in bed, the bonfire sounds fab. Nelski, enjoy your day, I didn't know that James Martin was on again, my sister absolutely loves him, will have to check with her if she watches, hope you recover well from your shennanigansthanks for the Holly update too. Morning SO, how are you doing? Congratulations on second snoozer
How are you doing too Poppy, hope it's OK.
Happy Saturday of unknown potential, hope you all have a good one.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Morning all,
DH has gone to work for the morning,DS1 has taken DGS to football and will prob pick DGD up on the way back. They are going to a bonfire later. There were some fireworks last night,we turned the TV up loud but the loudest bangs seemed to be later on, 10.30/11 so Ly1a was a bit stressed then but not too bad. I think tonight will be worse.Glad I ordered extra calming tablets.DS1 will look after her as we are out,she can hide under his desk. Nice to hear Scampi had a happy day tru.
Nearly had a disaster at teatime,I went to get the meat I'd earmarked for last night out of the fridge and realised I'd frozen it along with the rest when I came home from the butchers on Thursday. Rang DH to see if he could get a'chippy tea' on the way home but they'd had chips at lunchtime. When they got back he wasnt hungry as he had indigestion, probably working after the chips, and DS2 was going straight out to meet my DB at the pub to watch football. Luckily DS1 is always happy enough with a sandwich and I had some leek/potato soup I made the day before :rotfl:
I spent a peaceful afternoon cutting out my squares for my fusion quilt but I think I'll wait until after the weekend to get my sewing machine out.I haven't decided what colour of crochet cotton I want to use to join the squares yet- I think there may be more pinterest gazing first, and James Martin sounds rather nice while it's quiet
Hope its a good weekend for everyone xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning everyone
taff - I have several different ways of making the sauce - usually depends how much time I have etc. It can be a stock cube dissolved in a jug of hot water then either cream or creme fraiche - I saute the bacon and chicken then add the sauce so can taste and adjust until I'm happy, then add the mushrooms and cook steadily for a few minutes, then cheat and use a sheet of ready made puff pastry and put in oven for 30 mins.
Another good way to make the sauce is condensed soup (made by the well know soup manufacturer!) then mix that with either water/stock/milk until you get the right consistency or failing that just cheat with a jar of white wine sauce - most SM sell them.
Hope that helps.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
I really struggled to get out if bed this morning having been ill all week but going into work I think I was shattered and just could not het up, still up now and washing on the go.
House is lovely and clean will just need a very quick tidy round of our mess from last night.
I need to go shopping today as the fridge is bare hopefully dd will need to go too and come with me its more bearable when there are two of you !
OH is going to put the new flooring in the loo and utility room today we have been wanting it done for weeks but its just one of those things you never get round to, so it will be today !!
I am fancying a lamb casserole for dinner with some crusty bread to dunk in, so will see if there is stewing lamb in Aldi, if not I will pop into sainsbugs.
Glad the news was positive for Holly :j
TA thinking of you, try and get some rest xx
Long walks for Evie today and doggie Ritalin for tonight, I hate fireworks
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
It's a damp, grey day here, plus it's also windy and cold. I too struggled to get out of bed this morning.
Had a lovely time with the DGC but I notice that some of the shredded paper from the lucky dip box has escaped and it's trailed everywhere  So the task today is tidy up, hoover and dust and put the Halloween stuff away in it's correct place. It's bagged and ready to go back in the cupboard in the bedroom, but only made it as far as the office/ dumping ground yesterday. Anything else done today will be a bonus as my hips are aching.( My poor old bones just don't like this cold, damp weather.)
Mr Fix It is playing.......... sorry working in the shed, so I am left to my own devices. Mr Fix It gave me the message that DD is popping up later with some sellotape. That's very kind but I have my own
, so I am presuming she is coming to wrap the pressies that are hidden here :rotfl:.
Tea today will be sweet and sour sausages, as there are some small picnic sausages left in the fridge and we will have that with rice.
Ok I'd better go and do something as sitting here won't get the baby a new bonnet. What's that I hear " Have another coffee first ".....well ok if you insist.
Holly great news :T.
Nelski thanks for the updates about Holly. Take it easy today, if you can. :A
TA hugs coming your way. Hope you can get the van cover on, I don't envy one person alone doing that job. It takes the both of us and a lot of puffing and panting
-taff How rude are some people . Have a cwtch from one welshie to another.
Hope all the poorlies are improving. Have a good Saturday all.
Take care of yourselves and hugs all round.

Good afternoon all,
Rather cloudy and meh here today, but dry so not complaining, OH has gone off to the monthly coffee morning, he has cycled so won't see him for another couple of hours, I usually go in the car, but have cried off, needed some "me" time. Done a facial, sorted my tablets and supplements, loaded WM and lots of other bits and bobs, hoping to manage a pedicure and manicure, but I am easily distracted.
Those kind peeps who suggested a date night/lunch with OH after to daft week we have had, well we are heading south to Tewkesbury tomorrow and BIL and his lovely partner are coming north and we are booked for a Sunday lunch and much overdue catch up, really looking forward to it.:D
Dear furry one has responded really well to the Adaptil plug in and the Ritalin doggy biscuits, it is forecast to be windy tonight so will have to see how many firework parties there are, expect it will be spread over until Monday being the 5th too:eek:
bellabella, thanks for the new thread, well done with all that decorating.
TA Bittersweet moments indeed at the caravan, hope you get some rest today.
nmlc Lie in sounds just the ticket.
tru well done with the visit to the dentist, and Scampi too with the fireworks.
Csarina I have recently been diagnosed with Osteoporosis (I'm 69), not shrunk too much as yet, I was offered medication to slow the progress, but as I have a very poorly tum I asked for it to be administered by infusion. All was very easy peasy, once per year for 3 years, took about and hour including the mandatory rest and cup of tea to make sure no reactions, and I have been ordered to do as much weight bearing exercise as I can manage to help build my bones. Walking, gardening, housework, standing cooking all count I was told, so I take a few more pain killers to deal with the ankle pain when necessary and am trying hard to comply:) I also have to take Vitamin D.
Snoozer It feels good when the memory obliges with the correct answer when needed, I pulled a few things from the depths when watching Mastermind last night:D
taff shame about the party, but hope that you enjoy your time at home.
RosyRed some HM soup always hits the spot for me. Even better with toast.
OL hope the shopping is reasonably peaceful.
redruby sorry you are feeling poorly, hope you can recuperate today.
Bozwood a belated welcome to you.
SO hope all is ticking over OK with you.
Nelski and Gers enjoy your quiet time now you are visitor free.
camelot I envy you being able to go to Yoga I used to enjoy it when I went.
nanny I trust you enjoyed that coffee, my poison is tea, better get something done before I have another one:(
Gentle hugs to Holly, Polly and Dumpling.

Oh MrsSD :rotfl: you are only allowed to go on the naughty step once a year, so now you have a free pass :T
MaddieM I have done nothing today, nada, rien except drink countless cups of coffee, help DD wrap some pressies and have long chats. I shall take her advice on board re Dad and myself . When did my little girl grow up to be so sensible :A. Hope you get and enjoy your me time.
Change of plan for tea tonight we are going to order a Chinese instead :j
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Afternoon all and a quick return visit from me. CSARINA I am amazed at your height loss. 5 inches is an awful lot to lose. I have lost 2 inches over the last few years and that leaves me at 5 ft nothing. Hope I don't lose any more as I need the step stool to reach above the bottom shelf of the cupboards as it is!
NAN DD's bf had the awning down, and the caravan and decking covered in record time this morning. Bob and I used to have to tussle with them all for hours on end, like you amidst much huffing and puffing.
I have had a very lazy day after yesterday's toils. DD and youngest DGD came lunchtime and DS appeared straight from work just as they were leaving. He has had to put in a lot of hours this week and now the takeover date has been postponed. No-one seems to know what is happening.
The fireworks are setting off in earnest here and I feel so sorry for all the distressed animals they are upsetting. One of our border collies was terrified by both fireworks and thunder. She was all but frothing at the mouth and shivering uncontrollably. The second border collie wasn't bothered in the slightest and used to look at her as if she was wondering what on earth was wrong with her,
