Pet liability insurance standalone?

Hello,
I have a dog (he’s a very good natured 10 yr old).
I’ve never had a medical insurance policy for him, just pay as we go.
But my question relates to liability insurance - are there any companies that offer just liability insurance? Without medical cover?
I have liability insurance on my home & contents policies, but it doesn’t mention pets - so I’m guessing they’re not covered there.
I know this is a very basic question, but we’re getting more litigious as a society... and I’m wondering if I should insure.
Thanks for any insights.

Many companies sell pet ‘accident and injury’ insurance policies which include 3rd party liability insurance. We have this type of policy for our 2 ten year old dogs and it only cost a few pounds each month. We too wanted liability insurance and these policies also give some cover in case of acidents
  • Your home insurance should cover this under public liability, as long as the dog isn't on the dangerous dogs list.

Thank you all three of you who replied. It's good that you've come at this from 3 separate angles, and given me enough information to complete my research. So... for the benefit of any other readers, here are my findings:

    1) My insurer (Admiral), gives me £2m personal liability insurance.
i have carefully checked my policy and pets are not excluded (except for damage to my property caused by chewing/biting/scratching/fouling), neither are they explicitly mentioned as covered for 3rd party damage.
I will probably phone them up to check, however a review of some review sites, indicates that home insurance liability cover usually does provide the cover i want. (as mentioned above)

    2) I went searching for pet accident insurance... there seems to be a lot of policies out there, but for most you don't get to read the T's and C's until you've entered all your details,

was the only one i looked at in detail.

    3) dogs trust

    very interesting...
i actually have two dogs... so although the level of cover (£1m) is a little lower, this policy actually works out cheaper than the cover mentioned in option 2.

    from an earlier MSE thread
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4975943/dogs-trust-25-third-party-liability-insurance
    the last writer (HillBilly1) observes:
Any standard cover under another policy (including normal pet insurance) usually does not cover:-
    - dogs at work
    - dogs at training/socialisation/agility classes
    - dogs being walked by people other than the owner
    - dogs being walked by an employed person (dog walker/au pair)

    Conclusion
I'm going to phone and confirm cover with admiral. I'm also going to ask about what happens if someone else (not paid) is walking my dog.
depending on the answer from Admiral, I might take up the dogs trust insurance. (note the dogs trust insurance is half price for over 60's)
