New mobile - poor battery? 4000mah

Hi I bought a mate 10 Pro from amazon to replace nexus 6p
Opened the phone yesterday and it was on 54%. Plugged in charger straight away and did the phone clone thing for a few hours to transfer everything over.
I was browsing the net and in ten minutes it had lost 2%. Overnight lost 12% in 6 hours. Others I read lost 2-3%
This seems abnormal given the battery reviews
Is there something I should do? Let it drain before recharging? Even in ten minutes now writing this/browsing , lost 3%. I've got kirin 970 version
I'm not a gamer or big movie streamer. Just email, Web pages, social media, GPS for work, sometimes music/radio. But haven't tested much of these so far.
I guess I need to test it more but just disappointed so far and I know it's unlikely to be a dud battery

Nothing you say sounds abnormal.
Are you on full brightness by any chance (or full adaptive brightness). These will drain the battery quickly.
Anyhow it's android, just look at what is using the barrery and see if it is something you can do something about.0 -
Even accu battery check is saying 1.75hrs to charge from 9 to 100?! Thought this is rapid charging. Though it has gone from 9to23% in a few minutes
I've disabled chrome
I'm on 4g at the moment0 -
No I'm on middle brightness
I've seen. Others with similar issues but the majority get major phone use0 -
Just seems for a 360 quid new phone, new tech, massive battery not that great after a few years on 6p0
-
Re rapid charging, have you got it turned on?
Use your battery for at least a week before you start believing any stats from battery apps. They need to learn your usage.
You won't get much more than a day out of it anyway, the bigger batteries are needed because the phone is much more powerful than your old one.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Is Bluetooth on ?0
-
No Bluetooth is off.
But I've bought wireless earphones specifically for this phone because it has a weird headphone adaptor and not specific headphone socket
So that's a bit annoying
I get the phone has to calibrate the battery etc
But this was supposed to be a monster battery
OK I got it yesterday
I don't have major apps running in the background
Lets see if I can get 7-8 hrs screen on time in a week0 -
You won't get 7 - 8 hours SOT in the real world.
Do you have WiFi on all the time?
Is your location on and is it set to 'High accuracy'?
So many variables to battery life.
Stop, fixating on it and enjoy the phone,Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

One of the reasons for upgrading phones over the years is a weaker battery which does not last as long. I had a game tied to one phone and get it charged and active without the SIM.
It surprised me how long the battery lasted without a SIM card in it.
Sitting on the side with a SIM it barely lasted a day, remove the SIM and it lasted 3 or 4 days.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
