Got another letter addressed to the wrong name, added to the pile unopened.
But I am still wondering about data protection issues here (GDPR), the company obviously pulled my data from the DVLA and handed them over to a 3rd party debt collector. I am thinking about requesting from the DVLA who recently requested my information and what reason was given?
Or would this be non advisable?0 -
you definitely need to inform the DVLA of the incorrect details on the V5C and get it corrected and a new V5C issued for starters
yes you can ask the DVLA for the info on who accessed your data and when
but if you think that the DVLA have mishandled your data then you are sadly mistaken, that has been talked to death on this forum and currently they can and will hand out your data to anybody with reasonable cause who fits the basic requirements
so I believe your idea of blaming the DVLA under the GDPR is currently a dead duck, but no harm in getting the data and getting the V5C corrected as well0 -
If there is any suggestion that the registered keeper is liable in the correspondence, then definitely a complaint to the DVLA.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Thanks for the advice. I did sent a corrected V5C to the DVLA the moment I found out. Haven't heard from them since, but it usually takes them a few weeks.
I was thinking about P4 passing my data on to the debt collector, or if the debt collector requested it. Because the former seems like a violation? And if so I wonder if anybody has ever challenged that. But if that is a dead avenue I don't want to waste any more time.
p.s. I obviously read the newbee section here, and am wondering if you could specify "UNLESS YOU GET A CLAIM." what exactly do you mean by claim and by whom?0 -
That refers to a court claim issued by the PPC or their representative solicitor0

"parking Co stating and giving you 4 weeks to pay up or THEY will start court action"
I checked one. They are from the debt collector T N something on behave of parking Co P something, not P at all. So I haven't received any letters from the actual company. But if I understand you correctly, should I ever receive one from them, I should respond?
"That refers to a court claim issued by the PPC or their representative solicitor"
In the case of a letter from a solicitor, how would I know it is theirs and not the scammers?
"hopefully you are not doing this with counsil tickets and speeding offences?"
No. They look more official, but also I tend not to get many. (Last official parking ticket I got was almost 10 years ago and I paid on the spot.) Hence not really familiar with this.0 -

google may be your friend , a simple search for the company will show other services they offer , such as house conveying , wills , probate etc etc , last time I looked the likes of DR+ and ZZPS were not offering those services0
