P four started to send me letters. Since they misspelled my name I decided to ignore them.

However, now they started to text me on an unregistered pay as you go number. Which is super creepy and might be a GDPR violation?

Has there anything recently changed in the law in Scotland?

    No - they're fishing.

How did they get your mobile number?

Just consider this as spam on top of a scam. Follow the advice on this site

I have no idea how they got my phone number!

So I was wondering if anybody else ever received texts from them?

And if that is a GDPR violation?

We are not DPA/GDPR experts, so you might want to try one of the other MSE sub forums.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Yes you do, you and most people are easy to trace and stalk, by scum firms:

Just block the number and ignore them, they are fishing for who was driving, DO NOT REPLY.

As mentioned in the first post, on all their correspondence they have my name wrong!

I do get the occasional PPI spam on that number, but usually cold phishing without knowing my name.

Your mobile number is personal data and therefore subject to the Data Protection Act and GDPR.

Like I said, that number is traceable to you. Either on Social Media or because your Bank/credit card or similar firm has put it on your credit record, visible to any company doing a 'soft trace/search' like in the link I gave you.

And is your name spelt correctly on the V5c ((AKA Log Book) for the vehicle?

This didn't even occurred to me. So when I checked I found out it isn't.

So obviously I will get this sorted asap.

Does thus change my defence in any way?
