Good morning everyone
Crip white covering of frost here....it looks pretty but glad I'm still off work so I didn't have to go out early.
Had a nice pottering about day yesterday and spent a couple of hours with my mam and dad after lunch. Also had a friend for coffee in the afternoon, so had a good natter....only really see her when I'm on holiday.
Today...my bathrooms need a good clean and I have some baby blankets and toys to handwash for youngest DD...the blankets are ones her great-gran knitted so she'll be pleased with them. I wish I'd kept more now but never really had the storage space. At least there's a few homemade bits for her. Also my mum is knitting cardigans, even though she has arthritis in her hands and shouldn't be really. She just does a little at a time. Going to go into town for lunch with youngest DD later.
Well, I'd better be moving...hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Morning everyone,
Cold and frosty morning with nothing but blue skies.
Yesterday was my business trip to London. Arrived 5 minutes before my meeting and left immediately after. Literally popped in an out of London. So most of my day was spent in Heathrow airport in all honesty. Came home and was shattered so had an early night.
Tonight after work is my leaving dinner with my best mates. I see them all often but we rarely get the chance to get together at once. It'll actually be the first time since one of their weddings last year!
Tomorrow I have brunch with my cousins, again as a kind of leaving do type thing. It was the only time that everyone was available and I think we're trying some new German restaurant in Glasgow.
Sunday my mate and I are driving down to see my new flat in Manchester. The purpose is to primarily take measurements and after that we're going to watch the Wigan vs Leeds game. Should be home for 8 or 9pm.
A busy weekend ahead. Hope everyone has a nice one0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Its Brrrrr here this morning, have drawn the curtains but not looked out. I have no need to go out so thats ok. The sun is out so the heating turned down, the front of the bungalow gets it early in the morning.
More sewing yesterday, not too happy I discovered after I had sewn on the binding that I had not put the centre circle on the dresden plate, I am going to have to try and hand sew it on aarrgghhhh....a second smaller one is pieced and the fancy stitching done, I have pinned the circle on and left a message on the sewing room table. I did cut the binding yesterday, but as yet have not sorted the backing. I want to do another couple of the tree wall hangings and another tree table runner. That will be it then unless I decide to do another small bag. Its when I do the bags I wish I still had my embroidery machine to embroider the outside pockets, they always look good......
The last of the grass went down yesterday, Craig will be coming round for some cash. It does look really good. I am pleased with it. We do need to use some feed and weed on the piece of grass nearest the house though.
Dumpling - I am so pleased that you called the Dr. and the visit was successful, you do need to take extra care because of your diabetes and weeping legs are not good.
Fish and chips tonight for supper, need to sort out something for dessert.0 -
dumpling, I'm glad you're getting the care you need. Well done to Phoebe and Lee.
weemidgie, I'm sewing a quilt at the moment which is lots of complicated stars on a black background. I have just one square left to finish to I laid it out on the spare bed and have decided I don't really like it because of the black. I shall finish it and hopefully it will grow on me.
Chris seemed much happier when we spoke to him last night. He said his presentation went ok which is probably Chrisspeak for it went well.
I pulled down the box of schoolwork that has been in the loft for 25 years or so and am going through it, trying to be ruthless. I might give them to the kids so that they can look through and decide if they want to keep anything. We have another load to go to the tip, very old tennis and badminton rackets and tents etc. I wish we'd passed them on to a charity shop when they were fit to use, but of course we always think we might use them ourselves when we put them up there.0 -
Morning all,
Lovely day here after some heavy rain last night.Had a peaceful walk in the park this morning &I had quite a good nights sleep even though DH went to his Thursday night quiz at the pub and had a few beers- he usually snores very loudly after.
He and DS had to nip back to work for an hour after tea unfortunately,as DGD was here unexpectedly but we passed a happy hour looking at her spellings and doing her homeworkShe's only 7,and I found 1 of the questions a bit challenging, maths was never my strong point
DGS had a halloween disco at school which he was very excited about. They arent coming tonight as usual, but tomorrow night so DS can take them to the bonfire up the road.
I said it was a nice day but there are massive white clouds racing over as I typeI had a busy day yesterday. After taking DGS to school,I got DS to drop me at a fabric mill, browsed there and got 3 yds of different fabric to supplement my stash to start my quilt. They had some odd pieces in exactly the right colour so they cost me 80p and I've got a dozen squares out of them :T.Next I walked to Morries,it's not that far,and had a pot of tea ( oh ,ok I confess to a slice of Victoria sponge too
) in the cafe before doing a big shop. By then it was lunchtime & DH rang to say he'd pick me up,so we called to collect my meat pack from the butchers further up the road. Unpacking, freezing and putting away took me a while ,before I could start playing with fabric...
TA, the bird feeder sounds lovely for the hospice garden,it should give a lot of pleasure for years to come for the patients and families, and the plaque is a nice idea too.
Right,I'd better get to grips with the usual Friday admin before the accountants ring,I have to speak to them every week on the day I pay DS,they have to do 'real time tax input'.
Hugs to the poorly people here xx

Good morning all! Yesterday was quite productive, managed the second coat of paint and one on the ceiling of PorchGate. No Cat TV yesterday though, it was raining and today I got up too late for his usual visit
Met friend for coffee yesterday, we had a walk around the Outlet village, a very slow walk, saw some friends/work colleagues to garner gossip, got a few stares at the baldy...One woman was talking to her [I assume] husband and couldn't take her eyes off me as she was walking and talking and even did the head crane thing as she went past. I was very good and didn't say anything... very unlike me...I also had a few dizzy spells and had to hang on to walls/display units a few times, so this means a walk to the local park to see the fireworks is out of the question tomorrow night. Boo hiss. Cooking was also out of the question so bought a couple of burritos which were lovely.
OH has a party tomorrow night, I can't go, drinking with a mask on is a bit awkward, plus I'd be knackered after an hour. I'm a bit jealous.
Today will be second coat on ceiling, heat gun the remaining paint off [I did sand it all down but had to use the gun to remove the glue from the ceiling, which then affected the paint on the wood which then meant i had to remove it properly....duh!] and maybe prime the wood with some reduced price primer I found in B&Q. White primer wouldn't work well under the dark blue colour I have planned [ Blue Fringe for anyone that's interested] so I found some grey in the reduced section for 5 pounds, result!
Due to the state of the house my friends keep threatening [jokingly] to phone DIY SOS or similar. I've already told them not to, because while I'd be quite happy to have the rewiring/plumbing/plastering done, I never like the decorative end result. Same with the garden makeovers...There's never a washing line!
Enjoy bakin day nmlc. TA, lovely find, hope it gives the residents something to enjoy and you enjoy the memories of happier times. SR, enjoy the party! tru, hope the dentist visit doesn't preclude the pizzadumpling, congratulations ot Phoebe! and well done on having a gentle giant nurse, glad you phoned the doc, don't leave it again!! Gers, get well soon...Nelski, enjoy your empty place and snuggling by yourself
AOD, have a lovely day out. WeeMidgie, I had a look but I couldn't tell which one it was...I got a kit for a friend a couple of years, will try and find the site, loved the colours of the kits on there, really colourful, maybe you already know it..Happy kitting
Deleted_User, do you sell the things you make? Would like to see the wall tree hanging, sounds lovely. RosyRed, more fabric...I daren't go to a shop, if I browse online I won't buy because I can't feel the fabric so usually ending up navigating away from the page. You have some iron will!
Happy weekend harbinger, hope everyone has the kind of Friday they would like...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi again
Just to let you all know I have just spoke to Holly and its good news. It seems the cancer was removed successfully first time so she just needs to undergo the radiotherapy now then she will be done. :j
Not sure what is going to happen on the mental health front as she said she could be out by Monday. Im just hoping they put in a good plan moving forward as she hasn't even restarted her meds again from the op yet.
Hoping she is back soon but only if she is well0 -
Hi Chums great news about Holly ,hopefully they will sort her meds out properly, she needs continuity and peace to get her on an even keel again.

Thanks for the update Nelski, you're a good'un to keep us informed.I'm glad the op was a success. My friend has almost finished her radiotherapy. Just hope Hols MH is stable before she goes home. Please pass on my best wishes next time you talk.
-taff, what a rude woman!
Yes I like to feel the fabric too,and have sometimes been disappointed with online buys.I'm lucky in having the mill nearby and we also have an Abakhan in town too so it's not often I buy online. However I have to confess to not getting my machine out for months (put it down to the hot summer when I'd sooner be outside) This quilt is a way of getting me back into the swing of it
Dumpling, forgot to say I'm glad you are getting your legs sorted and also you've had some good news:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Hi everybody :hello: - wow, can't believe how many replies on here this morning
. No way can I manage to post 'individually', so will do what I can - hopefully not offend anybody :embarasse. Beautiful start to the day here in Merseyside
.
nmlc - thanks for starting the thread for today. Love the sound of that Chicken, Bacon and Mushroom Pie - I'm  here.
TA - I'm sorry that you had a rather disappointing trip to the Garden Centre - I often find that their 'cafes' are ridiculously over-priced. That's why I stopped popping into our local one. Your Bird Table sounds lovely though and I'm sure that other people will get lots of pleasure from watching the birds enjoying it throughout the different seasons :T.
ScarlettRibbons - oooh - a 'Girly-Night-In' sounds fabulous :j!
tru - hopefully, making other dog-walkers aware of these hooligans will help to identify who they are or where they come from. Where I live is very quiet and we all notice if there are any 'outside kids' hanging around - even though we are just around the corner from our local Comprehensive School, due to the winding shape of our road nobody ever uses it as a 'short-cut';)!
dumpling - wonderful news about Lee starting College and Phoebe getting her job :j!. So pleased that you've started your treatment on your legs - :rotfl: at your description of the Urgent Care Nurse - what a lovely Gentle Giant you've got there!. Enjoy your visitors over the next couple of days and Steve's :bdaycake:.
redruby - enjoy your 'Friday Night Wine-down' this evening - hic!
Gers - I'm sure your friend will enjoy his trip to Gigha :j.
Nelski - .................. and breathe! Enjoy your relaxation after the visitors and good luck with your accountant
. Thanks on the update re Holly - that's fabulous news :j.
ancientofdays - enjoy your day with your friend.
WeeMidgie - your Instant Pot sounds brilliant.
Bozwood - sounds like lots going on in your place today - I'm sure you'll get 'back to normal' - whatever normal is - when the half-term hol is over!
dp1 - enjoy lunch with your DD!
Speky - what a whirlwind visit to London! Enjoy your meal tonight
.
csarina - good luck with your sewing projects.
snoozer - well done on your decluttering :j. You're doing better than I am!
RosyRed - great stuff with your grandkids - well done you :j. ooh another Abakhan fan!
-taff - sorry to hear about your experience at the Outlet ((((hugs)))) for you.
JackieO - enjoy your history group.
Had a busy time yesterday and was pleased to get home into the warmth/dry .
Had a visit from mobile hairdresser this morning - bye bye, Mrs Shaggy-Dog!
Just had a phone call from local Housing Association - inviting me to go to a Tenant Inspector's Visit in the next town - should be interesting :j. Love doing these visits.
Better get off and get ready. Have a lovely Oldstyle day, everybody - luv Ollie xx
