CHEW Insurance - anyone experiences?

Hello!

As previously shared on this forum, the window of my hire car was smashed and the car broken into in France.

Following our return and receipt of the bill for the damage, I sent all the requested documents to CHEW (Car Hire Excess Waiver), well to Travel Claims Services who deal with claims under this insurance. These were emailed on the 10th September 2018 and I am still waiting to hear the outcome.

I have phoned several times to follow up, resulting in my claim being flagged as 'urgent' two weeks ago - 'expect to hear from us in 5-7 working days'.

Yesterday, on the last day of the '5-7 working days' I received an email saying I hadn't sent some of the required documents. I had. I have now resent them but still have no idea how much longer I will be waiting.

I did not pay the car hire company for the damage as it seemed sensible to let Travel Claims Services deal with it, but have just had a third reminder/request for payment (am sending them on to Travel Claims Services) and getting concerned that they might start sending less polite emails!

Just needed a bit of a rant really - but if anyone has any similar experiences they can share, please do! How long would be reasonable to wait, and should I put in a complaint? (always worry that that might make it worse!)

Thanks for getting this far!

    Oh....MAPFRE. Incompetence personified.
When they get it wrong, they really get it wrong. Their system needs an overhaul. Managers are poor and they pass on those poor ways to their underlings.
Don't know what else to tell about them. They may just need a kick up the posterior.
