If they have no record of the account on their systems then they should not be recording the account on your credit file. I would make a complaint, in writing, to the Vodafone Data Controller so that the account gets removed from your file. What is the date the default marked as?

    I think its unlikely.

Vodafone where using electronic systems back in 2014. The person on the phone might not have been able to locate the OP, but they will have a record of their account somewhere.

Its worth trying because a default isnt good, just dont expect complaining about someone not being able to find you to get a default removed.

Start a complaint via resolver, and if that doesn't get to the bottom of it you can escalate to the ombudsman.

I've recently had 2 defaults removed from Hutchison 3g UK because of this same issue. They were on my credit report, but 3 couldn't find any record of them. In the end they agreed to remove the entries in their entirety
