Not sure that's the case now. The domestic arrivals route changed two or three weeks ago so you no longer go down the stairs opposite Gate 10. Instead you go along past Wetherspoons towards some new gates and down stairs there to new baggage belts.

The doors of no return are after the luggage pick up and I think you could pick up luggage, then turn and go back up the stairs.

Ah, I see, thanks. I haven't been there since May.

Although that seems to be a moot point now as OP can't get priority boarding on either flight!

There are no connecting Ryanair flights, they are all stand alone. They make that clear on their website.

Actually they do now offer connecting flights with bags checked through to the final destination, but only through certain airports. Ref

Two Italian airports out of the 200+ airports Ryanair serve is not even worth talking about.

Thanks for that bit of info, might be useful.

Would be good if anyone else who's been through Edinburgh can confirm this? I guess it could be *some* of the domestic flights rather than *all* of them that take this new route?

Yeah, it's very annoying I can't get priority for the second flight. I mean, with people being able to now check-in bags, you'd expect there to be more space in the cabin and a bit more availability of priority.

I dunno. Ryanair are getting very frustrating to deal with bringing in all these changes.

Personally I would be tempted to try to smuggle it into the cabin.. perhaps wear a long baggy raincoat and strap the bag to your body under the coat!

lol! I like the idea. But I think if it were easy to hide a 10kg rucksack under a coat, a lot more people would be doing it :rotfl:

I do have a photographers jacket with about 15 pockets I've used in the past to "boost" what I can bring on board. But fully packed I'd say it's only about half a small rucksack of stuff. So a long way short of a 45 litre cabin bag.

That is what I did when I flew Wizz Air to Georgia and back. Not quite 10kg but definitely a rucksack that they did not notice on either flight.

So I guess the cheapest and safest option is to buy priority boarding from Edinburgh to Derry.

No, the safest option is to book priority boarding for both flights. Then you'll be able to just walk from one gate to the other without having to go landside.
