  • Just took a look at Ripoff Reports but unfortunately was met with this:

I have also been given abuse by companies thanks to a negative review. My advice? !!!! em, pardon my French.

At the end of the day, a two-way transaction (i.e the exchange of money for goods and services) has to work both ways.... It's not just about you paying your money and then a company giving you half a product/service. They may feel their service was acceptable, but if it was demonstrably not, then you are absolutely within your right to tear them a new !!!!!!, especially if they make no attempt to rectify this.

!!!! their threats, let them take you to court. The last time this happened to me, I would have enjoyed a day out in court, it would have been nice to see them squirm as I proved (with science) that their product was not only unfit for purpose, but that the specifications listed on their website, Amazon, eBay, Argos etc, are a complete fabrication.

    Thank you.
The problem was/is that it wasn't removed by the site (Google) as it hadn't broken any rules, but by the reviewer themselves, as the company had threatened them.

Well there's nothing to stop you naming the company on this thread and detailing how they intimidated your friend.

I had a recent experience about reviews.

I bought an item from Amazon Marketplace recently which unfortunately turned out to be faulty. I contacted the company and asked for a replacement. After a brief exchange of emails they said a replacement would be sent out as soon as I removed the negative review.

I said I didn't remember leaving a negative review so they sent me a copy. It was a review I had left for a different product for a different company :rotfl:. It was only negative because I had t received the product.

I advised them it was not good practice to refuse to carry out their legal obligation because of a bad review and I have changed my mind and would like a refund instead and requested a label for return postage.

They caved in immediately. As it happens Amazon customer service contacted me about a different issue and I told them about this and they were horrified. They are going to talk to the company about their dodgy practices.

A lot of hassle over a product that cost £11.99

Use a VPN to connect via a country that does allow access.
