Frustrating for sure. the young salesman messed up (or was very good) but there is nothing you can do IMO. It seems that at no point did he actually say that you are purchasing a 4WD.

Notwithstanding the B2B issue, you can't carry on using a car that you intend to return. That's a mute point anyway as the advert was accurate and you should have checked the spec and not assumed anything (especially when buying a used car).
It seems at no point did you specifically ask "is this the 4WD version?".

So, let's just clarify... The basis of this is "most Antaras are 4wd, and the ad didn't say it wasn't, so it must have been" (even though it didn't say "4wd", and did actually say "2wd").

There's a bit over 28,000 Antaras on UK roads.
Less than half of them are 4wd.

Oh, and the 4wds? They have a "4x4" badge on the boot.

If they have a 4WD version for sale then try and do a deal and buy that one - its the sales persons mistake for assuming it was a 4WD model but yours also for not checking given that there isn't a fool proof way of knowing when your sat in the drivers seat unless you look under the car at the back to see if there is a diff and drive shafts.

Seems even the dealers havent got a scooby-doo.

Which can be easily removed though....I believe this WAS the "stage 1 tune" for all BMW 3 series drivers with anything under a 3 litre engine. :rotfl:

If we're turning this into a grammar Nazi thread, here's another common one :D.

I'm not sure I could blame a new sales guy for getting into a out of production (so less familiar) SUV which the customer keeps referring to as 4x4 and not thinking to correct him. If the customer asked "Is this definitely a 4x4 version?" then hopefully he'd have checked.

New or old they should know what they are selling - or at least satisfy themselves if they didn't know. He probably didn't want to say "I don't know" to the customer and just kept quiet hoping that everything will be ok in the end - which in this case ended up by the poor sap believing everything he was being told and buying the wrong car.

Do we know he was told it was 4WD?
