Yes, having owned a ceramic and solid, I prefer sealed solid hotplates. They are basically bulletproof and dont take long to heat up. Easy to keep clean and you can use any pan.

For nearly 3 years I had this cooker and it's horrible. It was already rusty when we moved into this flat and could never get it 100% clean. I've always been scared my children might forget that it's been used and touch it even though I remind them every single time.

Wow so not looking good for any of them. I have a very small kitchen so I do need a compact cooker. Would getting an extended warranty be of any use if I went say for the Beko? Right now that's well within my budget and my husband is pushing for a replacement asap.

I was hoping to find you a little gem. :( Even the Which? Best Value freestanding electric cooker is 60cm (a New World).

BUT! Given you have struggled with a solid plate hob and rust for so long, I think you will appreciate anything SHINY and NEW :D much much more than the Which? rating. :D

I don't know anything about extended warranties, but there may well be an article on the main MSE site. I will add a link if I find one. If you want anything more from Which? on any of the Bekos, say, let me know.

Thank you so much Fire Fox I really appreciate you trying to help. Funnily enough my cooker is a New World! Never heard of them until I saw this cooker lol.
Taking the plunge and will be buying the Beko, I'm still very wary about the issues you mentioned but I'm hoping I'll be lucky.

The rusty New World is much more likely to go wrong than a shiny and new Beko I would have thought!

Well it was hanging on by a thread. Only one plate heated up as the others took forever, the grill was fine but the oven was like the 7th circle of hell at times.
I'd have to yank the door open then move quickly out of the way as steam billowed out. Food always cooked really quickly and I'd have to cover it to stop it burning.

So today we ordered the Beko. Now I'm on the hunt for a protector :)

Induction are the way to go but you need to research carefully.

I bought a single to try(£20) to get a feels for them.

At that price point they have limited control easy to overheat as they use pulses

Heavy duty pans help or doing watery stuff.

Love ours even with the limitations.

Will be doing much more reseach for a real one.
