Ah I see, didn't realise you were looking at a freestanding cooker. :o I have a Which? Subscription if you are interested in their reviews/ test results of any brand/ model.

Their Best Buy electric cookers are £650+ but their Best Value is a more reasonable £330 (July Which? magazine so may be cheaper now).

Sorry my fault I should have put that in my opening post!
Ooh thank you, I may take you up on that. I've been so busy since posting I've not had a chance to look.

What is your price range? AO do them from £500.

I had an induction range cooker which I included in the sale of my last house and it'll be one of my first purchases for the next house as I think they're brilliant.

Probably around £500 but if I can get cheaper that would be great (I have two birthdays next month!).
I've always wanted a range cooker but I've never lived in a place with a big enough kitchen, never knew they did an induction one until recently lol.

OK so Which? have tested six Beko freestanding electric cookers, but not the model you mention. Scores are 54% to 59%.

Also tested six Hotpoint freestanding electric cookers, again not the model you mention. :( Scores are 54% to 60%.

For reference their Best Buys are 68% to 78%.

Do you need 50cm wide? Of the Best Buys in your price range, there are two Zanussi 60cm (ZCV66030XA and ZCV66030WA) both at 70%.

At 50cm wide there are no high scoring models. The best is a Beko (XDVC5XNTT) at 58%. Summary review says

    "Decent ovens, disappointing hob 58%

Accurate oven temperatures, good baking and cooking results in main oven, top oven heats quickly, effective grill, good hob simmering, catalytic liners for easier cleaning, good use of oven and hob space.

Uneven temperature when cooking on the hob, hob is fiddly to clean."

Cheaper 50cm is an Indesit (I5VSHK) scoring 56%. Summary review says

    "A possible budget buy 56%

Good grill, accurate oven, bakes decent cake and shortbread

Oven slow to heat up, hob is slow and poor at distributing heat evenly across a pan, uses a lot of energy."

In the Which? Hotpoint cooker guide they say

"With only the odd exception, most of the Hotpoint cookers we've tested are good all-rounders. Perhaps not outstanding, but they usually have a decent oven, hob and grill.

The brand is reliable, and most Hotpoint cookers are OK and reasonably priced. Although we haven't found any that have impressed enough to become Best Buys, a couple that we recently tested aren't far off. If you want a brand that excels more consistently, however, it is probably best to look elsewhere. Furthermore, we have concerns about how Whirlpool, the company that owns Hotpoint, is handling safety issues regarding its tumble dryers, and are therefore not currently recommending any of its products."

In the Which? Beko cooker guide they say

"Beko cookers are, on average, one of the cheaper brands available.

Beko cookers are, on average, one of the cheaper brands available. This brand has poor reliability - it comes joint bottom of this year's cooker reliability survey - so breakdowns are common. The majority of the Beko cookers we've tested don't excel. Although none are Don't Buys, we've only found one that scores more than 65%. Some of the brand's ovens are inaccurate, meaning that you may find yourself cooking at a different temperature from what you expected.

We really cannot recommend Beko cookers, as this brand got a less than satisfactory reliability rating this year. This means that frequent breakdowns and pricey repairs could be the order of the day if you go for a cooker from this brand. Although it's an inexpensive brand, we have found no really good performers in recent testing."

In the Which? Indesit cooker guide they say

"This is a budget brand but it gets the joint highest reliability rating this year, which means owners aren't often troubled by breakdowns. The hobs on Indesit cookers are generally good. The grills are more variable - most are satisfactory; some are excellent. The ovens tend to be at least satisfactory, so while you may not get top-end results, you won't end up with disastrous dinners.

Indesit is joint top of the cooker reliability charts this year, which is good going for such a budget brand, and means you'd be unlucky to be troubled with cooker breakdowns. Unfortunately, Indesit cookers do err on the side of mediocre in our tests. While we have a couple that aren't far off being Best Buys, a mid-fifties average test score is disappointing. Furthermore, we have concerns about how Whirlpool, the company that owns Indesit, is handling safety issues regarding its tumble dryers, and are therefore not currently recommending any of its products

Yes, having owned a ceramic and solid, I prefer sealed solid hotplates. They are basically bulletproof and dont take long to heat up. Easy to keep clean and you can use any pan.

Wow so not looking good for any of them. I have a very small kitchen so I do need a compact cooker. Would getting an extended warranty be of any use if I went say for the Beko? Right now that's well within my budget and my husband is pushing for a replacement asap.
