  • Morning everyone,

My god it's cold. I had to defrost the car this morning!

Last night, both of the pitches I played football on were frosty, which can make for an interesting game. I'll miss it when I head down to Manchester but hopefully I'll find something similair with my new work colleagues.

I got in touch with the letting agent yesterday about a particular flat that I liked and a few calls later and it's mine!!! The proposed move in date is the 10th of November but I'll push it back to the 17th to give me some time. Really looking forward to it all now.

Tonight I have my Scottish letting agent coming to my flat to do an inspection and check what else is required before I hand the keys over to my new tenants. I hope that this will be relatively straightforward and inexpensive, but I have my doubts somehow. Once she's out the way, I'll be making my dinner (bunless bacon cheeseburger with steamed veg) and then over to my mates for a bit.

WeeMidgie - I agree. I prefer the cold as it's easier to manage. But perhaps the Scotland in me haha!!
Nelski - Thanks for the update and enjoy your trip.
Gers - Sounds like you need all the luck for your friend tomorrow haha!
  • Morning....((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

TA Nitrofurantoin is what I have been given the last twice I had a UTI, I have been ok for a while, but Friday I knew it was going to happen, of course it was too late to get to the Drs. I am taking Nitrofurantoin has been prescribed again along with a large glass of water every hour.

No plans for today, the cleaner is due this morning. Sheets off the bed and in the washer, they will have to go in the dryer, its a nasty morning. I also have the towels to do but I may wait until tomorrow to do them.

The landscaper is due this morning to finish off the job, they unearthed part of an old sewer pipe yesterday, it took a while to ensure it was not still connected to anything.

I need to spend an hour or so in the sewing room today. I need to finish off the Dresden plate and sew the binding on. The binding needs to be cut on the bias to allow it to go round the curves.

I have my appointment for my xray 11am. tomorrow, I will fill the car up whilst I am that way, Tesco is by far the cheapest just now. I then plan to go on to Aldi that leaves Thursday free.

Nursery supper tonight.... sausage mash and beans.........bread and butter pudding to follow.

Morning all! Bloody freezing here, cat came in and is attempting to type his own message on my keyboard...Today a coffee with a couple of friends, and a visit to old work to pick some stuff up.
Made it to the shower, feel a bit more get up and go today, have got something wrong with digestive system, everything I eat makes me feel bloated and a bit vomity, which is annoying as the side effects are not supposed to linger this long, didn't anyone tell them that? Very inconsiderate...
Food, not sure, there's pleanty for OH to choose from in freezer, so no problems with that. Will attempt to sort out winter/summer clothes and put them nicely away again now that the chest of drawers is up and running. Got some little cedar squares from Lidl a few weeks ago so they'll be trhown amongst everything..

Dumpling, that's awful, poor SIL...Nanny...scaffolding?!! :) hope it's painless with the dentist today! nmlc, glad your funeral went without a hitch, sometimes, that's the best thing anyone can say about them. Redruby, that stuff should be exalted. the tablets are great too, they make you feel almost humanwhen you've got a cold. Silver Oldie, sorry to hear that, perhaps just go off and treat yourself for a day? TA, hugs, it's bloody hard. Nelski, you can neber have too many mushy peas, well, you can, but you can;t :) Gers, ope your visitor is fun, the blue pants made me laugh. OL, that must have been awful....glad you sorted out your sleep..Snoozer, it's lovely to find a piece of family history still going strong, I still have a skirt my mother made [that I wear when I'm small enough] and I periodically take it out and look at it. And congrats Sperky...
    Hope Tuesday treats you well

    Morning all
Just a flying visit as I'm off to the dentist. Then into Tesco for some odds and ends and the usual milk top up. How we get through so much milk is mind boggling . We will come home and put the shopping away, have a snack lunch then on to DD's to give DGD her birthday pressies. She's 7 going on 17 today :D.

Sorry to not read and run, but I'll be back like Arnie :rotfl:. See you later
    love nan xx

Morning,we were up early again,I think the clock change has affected Ly1a more than us,she was barking to go out and she keeps staring at me intently willing me to feed her an hour early :D
Had a lovely time with DGS yesterday. We didnt go to the museum after all,I had a msg to say I was having a delivery between 12 and 1 so it would have been a bit late as the next bus wasnt till nearly 2.Instead we used the big boxes from the delivery of my kitchen stools to make a car and a time machine to travel back to the land of the dinosaurs :).He stuck wheels, lights and steering wheel on and sat for ages, then I had to push him round. After he got the ipad and sat in it watching cartoons. DS managed nearly an hour with him after work as his Mummy didnt get back from her work until nearly 6,by which time I was shattered, and we just had cheese toasties for tea,and leftover apple sponge from Sunday.
Its a bit warmer today and the frost on the cars at bedtime had gone this morning.
I ordered a butchers pack last night to collect later in the week.He has also opened his Christmas order book so this year we are going to try a boned rolled turkey breast joint with streaky bacon-meant to serve 14 so there should be enough for the day after too- I presume DB and family are coming as usual, certainly the last 15 years.Sometimes he and his 1st wife would go away abroad but they didnt have children together, these days we get the whole caboodle, DB,OH, DNiece & his Dstepdaughter & DGS and another expected any day now :)
Thanks for news of Holly,Nelski, its good to have a hobby, please send my love next time you speak x
TA good to see you posting-mmm home made churros sound delish.
    Hugs to the poorlies
Silveroldie, sorry your mum wasnt talking. It must feel very isolating especially with DH not being well.Hugs x
I see the WASPi 50s women got a standing ovation from the opposition yesterday after their protest at Westminster. I was expecting my state pension 3 years ago and still have another 3 to wait. Thankfully DH is still able to work (so far)otherwise it would be a bit of a struggle,my work pension which I did get at 60 is small.Even getting a bus pass would help as I tend to go to town a couple of times a week :( Ah well.....
Hope you all have the best day you can x

Morning all from a bright but chilly Mehefinland

A late post from me ( about a week late I reckon) but not much has happened. Scoobymare now has a shoe back on but is still a bit ooh me:mad: I reckon she's doing a Laurence Olivier. Time will tell

    RANT ALERT
Why do people plant leylandii in their field, let them grow to 60ft+ and then decide to cut the top 15 ft or so out and burn it. The bar steward had a stinking bonfire going all weekend and the whole road stinks. All the smoke blows into the barn too and the girls were NOT happy. Then he beggars off and leaves it burning overnight.
Of course you cant contact the councik cos they don't work weekends so by the time they show up the problem has gone:mad:
He doesn't even live there now which is even more galling.

Other than that it was a lovely weekend. DS shot off to Cardiff for a party and staggered home late Sunday afternoon. Think he was still hungover a bit Monday morning. Serves him right :rotfl:

Seeing the mushypea saga and the fixation in the soopermarket aisle reminds me of when Mrs Ms cuz came over from Japan. Apparently you can not get decent cheese there so before she went back we had a visit to the local W*rose so she could pick some up. I left her at the cheese counter, did a full shop and came back to her still dithering about which to take. As she had a stopover of 12 hours in Delhi I persuaded her to leave the soft cheeses!!!

Right Hugs and Spoons to those in need
    Take care everyone

  • Morning g, I was here for a quick read earlier but hadn't actually done anything much at that point.

Now I have swept the kitchen, made myself some macaroni cheese for dinner tonight (OH will make Spag bol for himself and son, I am not fond of rich tomatoey sauces) done sone washing, read the paper, and we have washing outside. It won't dry completely but a little bit dry works for me.

Lame Wolf you were curious about the frilly knickers behind the radiator - I imagine they were put there to dry and fell down. I am more curious about the flyers for events, you wouldn't normally put those on a radiator would you.

Dumpling I am sorry to have missed you out yesterday, what an awful shock.

Organza_Lace I tend to avoid anything to drink after about 8pm but so far, it seems not to make tge slightest bit of difference, I rarely get back to sleep. The loo here is downstairs so I need to put my glasses on to make sure I don't fall down the stairs.

Thinking of all those who are struggling with their health ir the health if those close to them.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

TA everything always seems to surface at 03:00 a m doesn't it? :(
I have to admit I had to G00gle churros, never heard of them before.

Speky oh that's wonderful news about the flat. I guess you'll be packing up all your belongings in something of a hurry, then. If you can find some football activity to join in Manchester, that'll be the icing on the cake, I reckon. :o

Nannywindow I feel your pain re milk. I have no idea where it goes – I don't think Mr Wolf is bathing in it (though you never know.....) There's only two of us here, and I drink both tea and coffee black, but still we somehow go through an average of 15 pints of the stuff a week.

AOD yes you're probably right about the knickers being put on the radiator to dry – but surely, if there were a couple of pairs short when you went to put them away you'd notice, and look to see if they'd fallen down? Specially if they were expensive ones. I know I would....:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Someone once left a pair of knickers behind in one of the bedrooms after one of my parties, very very expensive pair. When I contacted her to tell her she wanted them back but wouldn't give me her address to post them on. I suggested she come over to collect them but she didn't like that idea either. Eventually she did give me her address, she lived on a mobile home site but had told everyone that she lived in a posh house in a posh area!
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Good afternoon everyone :hello:
The weather today has turned out to be rather nice and sunny after a frosty start. Lilly and Steve left for college/work all wrapped up in scarfs and wooly hats but I am sure they will be discarded before coming home.

Phoebe's interview went well she thought despite having a dreadful cold but it's just a waiting game now. She feels a little bit better today but still looks like death warmed up. Lee went off to the gym on his own today and really enjoyed it. It is good he has some independence especially as he wants to go to college in the next town. Steve is going to a meeting there on Thursday and they will hopefully say when Lee can start his course.

I am having a problem with my legs at the moment, they keep swelling up and then leaking, it's gross and painful. Unfortunately I am unable to go and see my GP so I am just putting up with the pain although it is making me uncharacteristically grumpy. I don't really know where to start with treating them either. I'm not looking for medical advice I hasten to add, just wanted a whinge.

The fallout from my BIL's death continues, everyone is finding it very difficult to come to terms with as there was no warning signs. His son posted a video of his dad dancing at the party just before he collapsed and you could see he was having a whale of a time there which helps a bit. There were so many lovely messages and memories posted on Facebook and you can tell he was so loved.

I have an architect coming tomorrow to take photos and measurements for the shower room. It is not at all clean and tidy here so that will have to be sorted out before tomorrow. I am already starting to get very anxious about the work to be done but I know it will be worth it.

re milk, we get through 16 pints of green top, 4 pints of BOB milk and 3 litres of lactofree milk every week. It is amazing to me and I often think it would be cheaper to buy a cow :).
I have to get up in the night at least once to use the loo but often can't go back to bed again as the 3am worries take hold. I wish there was a simple answer to this too.

Well, I am going to go and chivvy the kids to push a hoover round at least so I will love you and leave you. Hope you have a pleasant evening, take care xx
