Guarantor for Credit Cards

Is there a company whereby if you have bad credit you can apply for a credit card with a guarantor? My car really needs repaired and I need it to get to work. I will be able to pay the balance off in full in the middle of December, provided I have my car to get to work and do overtime!
My mum is unable to lend me the money but she has a good credit score and would be able to go guarantor for me but I can't seem to find anywhere that offers one and I dont know what to do.
I thought capital one did but I can't find it and did the eligibility check with them anyway but wasn't eligible for one on my own.

I got a 'secured' card from capitalone when my credit file was in tatters. With a 'secured' card, you have to pay a security deposit before they will issue the card. You get the deposit back, if you honour the credit agreement and manage the account properly (in accordance with t&cs).

There isn't one to my knowledge. Capital One do a secured card but you need to put money into it in order to build up a history.
if your mum has a good history it would make sense for her to apply for a 0% card and you pay her back after she has paid the bill. I would be careful relying on overtime for making payments though, unless it was guaranteed.0 -
Thank you both. The info on the secured card is what I seen but I can't seem to find how to actually apply for that specific one. I called capital one and they said to do the eligibility checker and it will show what im eligible for but I wasn't eligible for anything0

CapitalOne need to offer you the 'secured' card as there is no application process for the specific card. You need to do a full-blown application for any one of their 'normal' cards, then if the computer says they can offer you a 'secured' card, you will have the option displayed on screen.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

If you must drag your mum into it and shes happy to help you out then a much better option would be for her to apply for a credit card and name you as a second card holder.

Your mum takes out a credit card and pays for the work herself and you pay your mum back. There will be interest to pay if you don't pay off in full each month. She can also ask for an additional card in your name for you to authorise the work but the debt will always remain with her.0

If I must drag my mum into it? You dont know my circumstances or that of my family.
This forum is honestly full of the rudest people ive ever come across. I dont even know why I bother to ask questions.0 -

This forum is full of people posting about the problems they have had acting as a guarantor for someone (including family members) and the problems it's causing them when the person stops paying the bills.
If your mum wishes to help she should apply for a 0% purchase card or money transfer card and use that to pay for the works and you then pay off each month which will a) make it more affordable and b) avoids silly interest rates if you can't get a good card yourselfSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
