Hi Can anyone help?
I parked at Riviere Towen car park , Hayle cornwall, what looked like waste ground. I have a blue badge but bought a ticket, when time was running out i went to buy another but the machine would not accept my coins, I got some new coins from the pub which also failed to work. I was given a penalty notice. The publican told me not to worry as they can not enforce it and it happens all the time. My fine is £200 now and I dont know if its a con or what.:

The publican was talking rubbish ..... bet he sells dodgy beer as well
Is it the pub who took on the parking company ??0 -
Good point and the beer was flat come to think of it. There are some threads on here though that seem to support him?0

You appear not to have read the NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0 -
You should edit your post to remove information about who did what. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper, who are two different people.
It is not a fine or a penalty either.
Have you read the sticky thread for NEWBIES yet that tells you everything you need to know about this unregulated scam?
Have you appealed yet? If not, then do so even though by the sound of it you have passed the appeal deadline.
To have got to £200 I suspect you have a debt collector letter, although the NEWBIES explains why it is safe to ignore this. Only the PPC can take you to court, not debt crawlers.
Please complain to your MP about this scam using the information you will have found from the NEWBIES.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed in the house as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P.
for unprofessional conduct
The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Did you already make a post about this a few days ago pweblow? I'm getting a Dejà vu feeling after reading about the pub guy telling you not to worry, maybe i'm wrong.
Where did the £200 charge come from? Was it a recent parking charge? (it's not a penalty, so you haven't broken any law). Was it only a single parking charge?
FYI, I received a NTK (Notice to Keeper) from AS Parking a couple of years back, and to date no court action has commenced, although they do get six years to try.0 -
