Organza Lace - hope that the ructions have calmed down in your house
. Get yourself a pair of earphones, plug in and turn the music up, if necessary
! Could it be that Grumpy sees Prodigal doing the usual 'teenage son thing' - ie spending money on what he perceives as 'stoopid stuff' - while he feels as though he's unable to earn enough to pay for necessities - ie his cigarettes, household things, and the 'looming Christmas'? I used to feel guilty in my late teens at having 'disposable money' when my parents were struggling with household expenses - even though I contributed to the 'family budget'. I used to take DM out whenever I got paid - Bingo Session/Cinema/Theatre Show, an Indian/Chinese Meal and a couple of drinks - she always referred to those evenings as 'gallivanting'
!
Another one here who's confused by the phrase 'her caterpillars' - haven't a clue what it means, but I LVE it already. I've a feeling it's a way of saying 'a picnic short of a butty' (or not quite all there)

Good evening everyone, I've had lovely day after the week of lurgy. A bright blue sky for our Sunday stroll, in a beautiful nature reserve with stunning views of the local hills. Then a cuppa at a nearby coffee house. A quick lunch at home then some card games with friends, and now a peaceful evening after an online chat with my daughter.
Gers, silver oldie and Nelski, I've been in your shoes with my mother and with my ex mother in law, and determined back then that I will do my utmost as I age to remember to be as gracious as possible. Not easy being old, in pain and feeling out of sorts and out of control. Not easy being the daughter eirher.
Looking forward to a swim tomorrow, first time for a while after the lurgy.
Take care of yourself, everyone. xxx0 -

I think my DD is going to be in a similar position in years-to-come with my DGS1 :undecided. Hard to tell how much is her 'making excuses for him', 'how much is his disability' or 'how much is him pulling her chain to make her dance to his tune'.
Caterpillars. Youngest had an overnight guest Friday night. Female of course and she left her false eyelashes on the bathroom sink. They look like hairy caterpillars and gave Grump a fright.lol - W-a-y off the mark there, Ollie. My DGD1 is in that habit as well, but she hasn't given my OH the heeby-jeebies yet :rotfl:. I doubt if he'd be all that bothered, as he loves spiders etc.
Grump. Well, I can't really blame him for being grumpy. He's still financially supporting adult children and I'm supporting them too, both physically and mentally and it's very draining.Ooops - Again, I was way off with my thoughts regarding 'Prodigal/Grumpy' - I'm so sorry about that. Can quite understand how hard it must be to still be 'carrying the finanacial burden of Adult Children' past an age when they should be 'paying their own way' - poor Grumps AND poor you, stuck in the middle of it all.
Grumps motor.....Well he's spent the best part of 20 years swapping and changing his cars because he didn't like them and the latest motor is becoming a bit of a money pit.I hope he gets some good news soon about his car/work situation - he certainly needs it.
((((HUGS)))) to you all.0 -
Although I'm still finding the caterpillars funny I wish it had been a sandwich short of a picnicNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Regarding 'mothers' .......................
Way back - in 2007 - my DS1 decided to accompany my DM and myself on a caravan holiday to Scotland. It was going to be a Memory Lane trip to re-visit all the places that she'd been to with my DDad and 'us kids' in 1967/68 - and a chance to visit some places that my Dad always wanted to go to, but never did. We set it up as 'a surprise' with Mum thinking that he was only taking us to the bus station to get our National Express Coach - timed so that we'd 'miss the coach' before announcing that he was REALLY 'our chauffeur for the week'.
We had a fabulous week - with DS1 taking us to places that Mum and I would NEVER have been able to get to by ourselves. He even drove us from Fort William to Inverness - just so that Mum could get in a 'game of Bingo'! On getting back home, lots of folks were asking me 'How on earth did you manage - stuck in a caravan with your Mother all week smoking and knowing 'how she can be at times'?' I was replying 'Oh you know - she was OK - some of the time!'
After being asked for the umpteenth time, I distinctly heard DS1 walk past muttering - 'Humph - You should try being away with your Nan AND your Mother!' ...................... I did a double-take  .
So THAT was the reason that he kept disappearing on his own for an hour at a time.
