How does anybody sell anything anymore??

There are a lot of belters out there.
I put an extendable wooden table with 4 matching chairs on gumtree for £120. Clearly stated no offers and buyer to collect from my postcode area.
30 mins later “you do free delivery?”
I replied “No, sorry”
“Never mind, I’ll take it. £70, ok, yes?”
I use Gumtree quite a lot to sell and you need to learn just to ignore the chancers (as in not even reply), until you get a serious buyer. I sold the table to a fantastic lady in the end and she ended up staying half an hour while we had a lovely chat over a cup of tea!
And I hope I don’t get shot down and called a racist here, but some cultures just have haggling as a way of life, so offering 50% is acceptable, where as to others the price is the price.0 -
I've had all sorts (mostly through Facebook).
Selling items for like £5 & they're offering £2. Seriously, it's £5. If i listed at £1 would you ask if i'd take 20p? Actually don't answer that!
People wanting something for absolutely nothing. We all want a good deal but some people take the piddle.
I sold a set of Sennheiser headphones. They cost me about £180 new. I shouldn't have bought them as i never even used them. Listed for £140 willing to take about £120 but no less than £100 at my very very very lowest.
The most ridiculous offer was £50 if i took them to Manchester & he'd give me cash in hand. That's an hours drive away for me. So i turn up & will he even be there? I didn't bother replying to that.
I'm currently selling an item of clothing. It's £50 brand new and while worn it's still in as brand new condition as it no longer fits me & i didn't wear it for long. I'm selling for £20. Used they sell for £25-£35 on eBay.
Someone came in for £15. Seriously pal i actually KNOW (of) you. You can't afford £20 on a good branded item that we both know in the trade we're in???
Someone else came in with an offer of £10. I actually replied funny to this one as it Pd me off. I was like - why not just totally take the mick out of me and offer to take it off my hands for free? Who wants to make any money right?
Selling some alloy wheels were the biggest nightmare. Without exaggeration i must've had over 20 timewasters. "Plz dnt sell. I'll be there 2nite". I stopped staying in. These 'definite' people just never turning up. I've messaged a few back - are you ok pal, do you need me to call the police? Are you safe? You were supposed to turn up, i'm not sure if you've been abducted??
People basically wanting for absolutely nothing (& some having the balls to get shirty when you don't give it for nothing). I say no problem - go buy it for full price then, or go buy it for whatever price you think you can get it for, good luck.0 -

Also a M & S bookcase top, heavy and lovely quality that we've had standing on a low base. Nope, they don't want that either.
They have a massive warehouse, so it's not that they don't have the space.
There is an amazing charity shop near us. It is on 3 floors of an old Art Deco cinema. They only sell furniture and household goods. I have bought some lovely things for reasonable prices. My latest purchase was a virtually new set of Joseph Joseph scales for £1. If I have any non clothes items to get rid of they now go there.
I did advertise an Ikea Billy CD storage unit for £20 on Schpock. First person to enquire bought it. I've put loads of other stuff on there but nothing anybody wanted0
