Does anyone use an alternative aerial other than the standard ones for free view tv?

I don't really fancy one of these on the side of my house but obviously will if other types are rubbish.
Can anyone recommend any good aerials
No satalitle dishes though
Thanks

I'm not an aerial expert, but it will depend on the strength of your terrestrial TV signal. I've used a powered one4all indoor tv aerial, but I live within direct, very distant, line of the Winter Hill transmitter.0

Im also not an ariel expert, Ive had an outside ariel for years but Im miles away from the nearest transmitter so in door ariel wouldn't work.
Would iPlayer and the various other catchup services not be suitable ?0 -
In my opinion Log Periodic work well, depending on the gain you require in your location. They certainly look nicer/more discreet when outside.
For example here is a cheap wideband model. Best to check what band you require.

Use the coverage checker at http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/ (scroll down), it'll give you an idea of what sort of signal you should expect. Like all coverage checkers it's can only give an estimate so if you've got big trees in the line of sight then you'll get a much reduced signal.
Just get a wide band aerial regardless, it'll allow for any re-tune in the future. It may work in your loft (presuming you have one).

Location?
Postcode within 100m or so of your home will allow prediction tools to estimate what sort of aerial you need in the locality.
The UK TV transmitter network is designed around the use of external, directional receiving aerials at 10 metres above the ground.
https://www.blake-uk.com/jbb-billboard/187-bilboard-4-stack-32-element-dipole-array-wb-blake-aerials.html can be quite discreetly mounted.
But some places can get away with smaller aerials and put them in lofts.
The sort of over-priced, over-amplified omnidirectional device linked to might work or - more likely - be a complete waste of money.

Never seen an aerial like that before, I thought it was showing it packed for shipping at first.
That said it does say 'Aerials packed 2 per box' which is confusing.0
