I'm late coming onto this thread today - feels freezing cold here today though the Local forecast reckons it's 8C 'feels like 3C' (their words not mine). The Gas Fire has gone on, but I've just explained to OH that if we're having that on 'all day', we'd be as well using the C/H instead - don't want to, but sometimes 'needs must'
.
Also thinking about TA and her family today - I'm sure that they're surrounded by all the love of their family and that people will make sure that the whole day is a true celebration of Bob's life :heart2:.
So much going on with everybody else, I'll just pick out a couple that spring to mind -
nmlc - thanks for starting the thread today
Gers - hope all goes well with you taking DM to the docs today - maybe they might prescribe some of those 'high calorie drinks' for her.
maddiemay - such a horrible situation for your DM to find herself in - hope at least one of the options will be more acceptable to her.
Nelski - enjoy your trip to Beatles Exhibition with Canadian friends - I've never actually been to see it, and I live so close.
-taff - did you ever manage to 'come to terms' with a treadle - I tried lots of times .............. and totally failed. I 'get the hiccups' with the treadle motion - then the machine kicks into reverse :rotfl:.
Speky - safe journey with DM today. Hope you're not staying overnight in Madchester - the city centre is VERY NOISY at night - but then again, if you're used to Glasgow you'll know exactly what that's like. Best of luck with the flat-hunting tomorrow :j.
mehefin - hope Scoobymare's hoof heals well.
nannywindows - I'm going dizzy just thinking about the past couple of days that you've had . Never mind a 'Friday Tidy' or a 'Wed Wipe Round' - get your feet up with a cuppa/biscuit and BREATHE!
Thinking about everybody who's unwell, caring for others or just feeling very low - ((((gentle hugs)))) for you all.
Have had a lazy day, so far.- Yesterday evening, I sat and sorted through all the takeaway containers  ................... made sure that only those with 'matching/fitting lids' are kept - the rest have gone into the recycling :j.
- Going to strip the spare bed and get it all washed - can go on the airer/over doors for now and on the line tomorrow IF it still needs drying.
- I'll remake the bed straight away - never know when one of the grandkids will turn up for a 'bed for the night'.
- Going to make some Chicken Rogan Josh for OH this afternoon. When it's cooled, it can go into the freezer for when needed.
Have a good Oldstyle day, everybody :beer:0 -
TA, I hope all goes well today.
Lazy start here today. Steve woke me a couple of times, screaming with cramp! He spent most of the night downstairs so he is still upstairs getting ready.
He has a blood test this afternoon, at the bloods ward (they don't make them go to pathology, probably because of the risk of infection). At about the same time I have a mammogram, luckily it's in the local mobile unit so I can walk there. After that we're going to Laura and Brian's so that Steve can help with some diy and then we'll go out to dinner and stay the night.0 -
Good afternoon, thinking of the Travelling Angela family, as they pay tribute to their beloved Bob.
There seem to be a few of us with the sore throat bug. Mine put me in bed for three days, and have been up but in bottom gear for the past two days.
I did go to the preliminary audiology appointment yesterday, one ear needed wax suctioned out, and will go back for a no obligation in depth hearing assessment next Friday. So far, so good.
I have a dear friend visiting next weekend who's over for a few weeks from her home in Oz, so I'm glad to get the lurgy out of the way before she visits. I want to give her something really special to take home with her, but definitely not a virus!
Swimming has been on hold, but will enjoy it all the more when I get back to it next week.
Hugs to all with health and other challenges. Keep cosy, the temperature is sliding. xxx0 -
Hi everyone,
Thinking of dear TA and her family today ,I hope Bob's celebration of life goes as well as it can do xx
DGD rang up this morning and asked if she could come early so she came at 12,I had to do the Friday admin for DH, speak to the accountant and have a Morries delivery/put away first.I haven't used their online delivery before but they sent me a £12 voucher off.The driver was 15 mins early and rang to ask if it was ok,which wasnt a problem. He was very polite :T,Only thing is I've probably forgotten something as I didnt have any favourites listed.I'm also glad I didnt have to carry it as there are 2 pumpkins for later which weigh a ton!
I have read through but I can remember only a little of it,sorry about that& hugs if you need one.Hope Mum is ok Gers.
Speky, welcome to the NW,hope you find a nice apartment tomorrow. Will you take notes ? Think I'd get muddled if I saw so many in a day :rotfl::heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
taff I never know what day of the week it is til Mr Wolf tells me.
Hoping the day goes as well as possible for the TA family. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
What a bloomin' morning! Got DM to docs on time though she (the doc) was running late because of an emergency. Happily an old friend was also waiting so DM chatted away to him.
She had a long time with the doc. More meds, chest X-ray and bloods to be taken in two weeks time. DM also told to jolly well take the omprazole she's been prescribed and drink more fluids. She won't!
Finding the hospital for X-rays is always a challenge. It's up behind the Kelvin Hall in the west end though almost impossible to reach and without sign posts. Most side roads have been closed off too. Anyway, no wait at all once we got there. In and out in twenty minutes. Then came the shopping expeditionand a quick drive to look at her leaving neighbour's new flat.
Now I'm whacked!- going to lie down for a wee while.

Hi everyone
Thoughts and good wishes to the TA family.
Have had a busy day as left to get the bus at ten a.m. for blood test, then got bus to York to meet a DD and have a catch up and bite of lunch before managing to get a walk in appointment for a pedicure. Finally got home at three p.m. and have had my feet up with a cold drink and a browse on here.
I have e mailed youngest offering to get the train tomorrow and meet her in Manchester to have a catch up and hand deliver some things that arrived at my house. Middle dd has just phoned and has to go abroad on business on Sunday so might come over to pick up the home made frozen meals I made for her either tonight or tomorrow morning.
Just realised I have been out every day this week and could really do with a quiet day at home and recharge my batteries so might have an early night and just relax.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Hi everyone
Just popped on to send best wishes to TA and her family.
Have been reading all week but not had time to post. My laptop is being very annoying and keeps zooming down to the bottom of the page instead of just scrolling down nicely!
Last day at work today as it's half term so I'm off to London early tomorrow morning to visit my eldest DD till Tuesday. I haven't seen her since August so I'm very excited!
Take care everyone0
