O/S Daily Friday 26th October 2018
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still pitch black here, but dry underfoot - not sure what the forecast is for today but tomorrow and Sunday don't look great.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly to go for a run.
Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, mash, carrots, cabbage, peas (and swede for me only). Menfolk had ice cream if they wanted, I was full so a coffee was enough.
Wasn't overly productive yesterday although a couple of things that needed to be done got done and I did keep going with the washing and drying, so quite a lot of clothes were folded and went back to the rightful owners - hoping to get our bed changed today also I must do the ironing. First thing I'll be going to do the food shopping. I need to decide what the menfolk are having for dinner also.
Keep safe and well x

Sore throat is still here and turning into a cold I think, still its Friday and due to holidays and sickness we only have two clients in today and one of them has a one to one support so it will be easier than a normal Friday :T there is wine in the fridge for tonight already
The rest of the gammon tonight with chips and an egg, I love that meal and its nice and easy for a Friday.
Will do a wash tonight but lovely cleaning wonder woman will be here today so no cleaning to do.:T
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning, thinking of TA I hope that all goes well today.
nmlc thank you for the new thread. Holly thinking of you too and hoping that the pain is more under control.
Rotten day yesterday, out from 1000 to 1700, it was so prolonged as while I was with Mum she was told that the person who is involved with discharge was on her way to see her and that my Dsis also had been notified, everything was running late too. It was dreadful seeing my previously strong and opinionated Mother in tears as the options (limited) were put to her. One of my DBs popped in for a visit, so at least there was plenty of family support.
I used all the spoons and some yesterday, but the sleep fairy visited and I feel vaguely human this morning, going to get tarted up and meet my best friend for a tea and chat session in a nearby small town.
Have a good day lovely people, keep snug and warm. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hood morning
Lots of thoughts for TA and family today i'm sure it will be a fitting tribute to a lovely man
Well despite not feeling remotely ready house wise my Canadian friends are here and all is well. Picked them up at the airport last night and we came back and had a long dinner and catch up. 35 years since we last saw each other so there was a fair bit to discuss
So todays plans are to have a fairly lazy morning...doubt they will appear for some time which gives me my precious me time then we are heading to Liverpool for a sight see and a trip to the Beatles exhibition. We will grab some lunch out and I am going to throw some chilli in the slow cooker soon so we can have that tonight with some nachos and tortillasKitchen still a wreck from last nights dinner so need to sort that at some point but nothing much else to do
No word from Holly yesterday will update soon as I hear
Have a good day all as much as you can0 -

These biscuits are fab for Scampi. He loves them too, almost as much as his usual treats, lol. I've named them (I name everything!) and only have to say Happy Bones and he comes running overThey don't help with cat sightings though, the rage is as bad as ever

A local farm has been doing halloween things during the day for kids. They also do Frightmare for adults at night which looks much more scaryMiss tru went a couple of days ago and said it was fab. Scariest bit – she went to the loo and someone came along banging on all the doors and it sounded like a chainsaw was about to come crashing through
She didn't come out til they'd left

It rained overnight so the garden is a bit soggy. Apart from our walk, I think I'll stay indoors today. I have some washing to catch up with and I want to sort some junk from THAT room

Good morning all

Well, hands up who's the idiot? Got up with OH today, didn't feel too bad, thought, ooo, I'd better put the green bin out. SO I did and pulled up some manky borage from the front garden to fill it up a bit, got totally whacked, came in, sat down, and thought, !!!!!!, it's Friday not Thursday....and the bins are collected on Thursday. Back out to bring it back in again...
Wil attempt glue removal from ceiling of porch today [ there were polystyrene tiles on it previously, will try heat gun and wallpaper steamer. If I can't get it off, the ceiling is coming down. I have already warned OH. Today I don't feel too bad, although sustained working is not a possibility. There will be pottering DIY. After breakfast.
Made pork meatalls in tomato & paprika sauce last night, mouth must be getting better, it didn't taste gritty, and there's some left for lunch today. Tonight we are going to OHs mothers for Toad in the Hole, he loves it, I can eat sausages, no cooking for me, win win win
Sorry to hear about your mother maddie and yours gers.. Nelski, hope the day is chock full of fun, hang the washing up, that's what dishwashers are for
, redruby, try a chilli soup, and night nurse tablets...I'm with you on staying indoors tru
. Hope today goes well TA and Holly is fighting fitter...Poppy, hope you're doing OK today. Ollie, two of my machines came off a skip, one of them is a real workhorse, it's a BSA which apparently, is a Singer machine, no idea when it was made, possibly the fifties, but it never falters and will sew through dinosaur hide [ haven't tried that yet though
]I love it. I bought myself a late 19th/early 20th century sewing cupboard [it did have the treadle parts in there] and modified it so that one fits in it, it's quite at home there.
Cwtches to all.
Have a good impending weekend day all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Good morning pals,
Relatively nice morning here in Glasgow. The occasional cloud covering a light blue sky.
Yesterday I didn't finish work till 11.40pm and I was starving, so I nipped into a 24hr Tesco on my way home. Skipped the gym this morning and opted for the extra 2 hours in bed instead.
I'll be leaving work early today to go home and pick up my mum for our trip to Manchester. We're staying in a cheap hotel tonight and then we have 8 or 9 house/flat viewings tomorrow. Really excited for it all and it's nice to spend some time with my mum too.
Won't be back till late on Saturday night, with no plans for the evening - or Sunday for that matter.
Right must dash and try to make the most of the half day.0
