What to do about Three (3).

I have been on my 3 contract for six months now but last week a crack appeared in the screen of my LG U400, wasn't dropped or damaged in anyway that I am aware of, and looking around the net it appears to be a problem that others have encountered.

When I rang up their customer services today to track my repair I was told I would have to pay £55 for the repair, which I think is out of order as it wasn't my fault.

After quite a heated discussion with the gentleman on the phone I was told my options were to pay the £55, have the handset returned as it is, or if I wanted to leave the contract I would have to pay £150.

Three have a pay as you go Skype phone which is only £49, would this be the better option to use my contract sim in there?

Any ideas or previous experience would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Phil

    Try to kick up more of a fuss about the fault in the phone, ie email them links to show the same problems others had etc... Might be worth trying to ask to more senior persons

    Worst comes to worst the skype phone will accept your 3 sim.

    When I kicked up a fuss about the fault not being my 'fault', and that looking on the internet other people have had the same problem he said;

    "clearly Three have not experienced this as a problem before because if we had we would have withdrawn this phone. Our customers mean a lot more to us than our suppliers. If you believe the fault is common, I suggest you contact LG themselves".

    If you have knowledge that the phone is known to be faulty then why not contact trading standards with the reply you got from 3. It is 3's responsibility in the first instance.
