Ah yes, that's true it does. I'd forgotten about that, I don't use it most of the time so I'd forgotten about it.

The electrician said the temperatures were set to the highest possible.
  • Hi,

maybe as a test you could put a storage heater on low tonight just to see if that circuit is working, shouldn't cost you much.

Yep can do, it'll be interesting to see if my new kittens suddenly fall in love with the heater! 😁

As stated, E7 switching was confirmed to be working last month

Additionally I have a bathroom radiator/heated towel rail thing in the bathroom which comes on at night automatically. There's no on or off switch for this and no timer. It was driving me a bit mad as clearly it didn't need to be on during the summer and hopefully not for another couple of months.

So, assuming we can credit the ‘electrician’ with the nous to spot a failed element, that would point to a duff RCD/breaker, or some wiring fault between the dist board and the element

I'll ask re the RCD or wiring fault possibilities. I'm about to email the landlord.

The thermostats are in the maximum position which is 80 degC. The 2 dots is 74 degC and the one dot is 65 degC. At any of those settings the hot water would be v. hot. There is an over temperature safety reset button by each dial. Do the night rate meter readings show kWh consumption that suggest the immersion is working?
