Blower and smart meters

Options
NPower being very insistent that I have a smart meter installed and sending me dates to confirm. Do I have to have one? I have read various for and against views. I would rather not have one.

No, you don't have to have one UNLESS it's a condition of your tariff.

check the T&C's for your particular tariff - some are conditional upon having or agreeing to fit one.

    Hi Boddy

    Thanks for your post.

Smart meters currently aren't compulsory and we don't have any tariffs which require you to have one, but we do need to offer you one as part of our governmental/Ofgem requirements.

There are advantages to having a smart meters but I'm also aware of some concerns that people do have. If you're unsure, if you do decide to have them installed then change your mind, we have the ability to deactivate the smart function, effectively making them just a regular credit meter. This can be switched on again at any time, such as if a new person moves into the property.

You can read our FAQs on smart meters here: !!!!!!/1VRHI2R.
Whether you decide to go ahead with the installation or wish to decline, you're more than welcome to contact us using the details on our Contact Us page - put MSE in the subject header so we know where you've contacted us from.

    Thanks again :)
