I think you have to allow the website to access your location. If you just put in your postcode and a distance, say 20miles, it does not work.
That's a serious failing. Why does it need to know the location of the enquirer ? Giving a postcode is more than adequate to show where the proposed tipping site is and it doesn't follow that anyone making an enquiry would necessarily be at the site location.

Indeed! That would be useless if you are a contractor planning ahead for a future job and it only works on your current location! I’m still inclined to think it is more likely to be a web glitch on a new site.

Yes I agree it would not make sence, at the moment if I enter my postcode and a distance which should be enough info I get the message "You must choose localization"

ARB, I appreciate your site’s usefulness to the industry, both as a way of reducing waste transport costs and reducing operators’ involvement with waste transport regulations and land-fill tax. I always thought of MSE primarily as a source of information for the general public rather than for B2B money saving, but if that is the way MSE’s owners want to take the site, that is up to them!

I’m happy to take your word for the geographical spread of sites across UK, and suspect that the issue may be that, since it is new, your website does not yet fully function across different computer platforms.

Morning. It has been fully tested on all platforms. Have you tried zooming out on the map after doing your search? Can you tell me what your rough location is so I can check for myself? a town a few miles up the road will be fine :)

Naturally you need to put in a location, how else can it carry out a search?
Its possible you are using it wrong. This is a slight glitch, that whilst obvious to me, a lot of people are struggling with. When you put in a postcode you have to select one of the options that comes up.

This 'serious failing' doesn't exist. It doesn't need to know your location at all, it just needs to know the location you are searching.

Morning Tom. As I mentioned to someone else, when you put in the postcode you need to select from one of the options it throws up.

I tried the system again this morning putting in my postcode and accepting default setting of 20 miles and got nothing - apart from a message seeking permission to use my location (which I refused).

I'm therefore inclined to believe Tom99's theory that the system needs to use user's location details as well as desired site postcode and if correct, that would indeed be a 'serious failing'.

Apodemus has already pointed out that a contractor looking for a remote site would be inconvenienced. I'd also suggest that anyone using the system from their town house would have problems finding information relevant to their country estate :D

With a well written programme, this sort of situation could not occur !
